  1. Jambalaya, thanks for the tip i'll try that. and don't be fooled by my handicap index, i make up a lot of strokes around the green :)
  2. Hey everyone, the problem i have is that i come from too far from the inside. I'm on plane on the way back but i drop to the inside on the way down. Does anyone know a good way to straighten this out? I appreciate your help!!!
  3. Hey guys i know that there have been a bunch of GPS threads on here but with new devices coming out all the time i wanted to see what people thought was the best one. Seems like most people think Sky Caddie is the best but the drawback being that it requires a $30 fee per year. I don't play any one course very often, i play a bunch of different courses every year - so i don't think that i'll need to map additional points like i would if i had a regular "home" course. Basically i just want something that will give me front, center and back of green distances and lay-up/carry distances for hazards. What do you think?
  4. and please don't say "aim left" :) Hey everyone. The last couple of times i've played i've hit a bunch of pushes which is not normal for me. It's not slicing or fading just going a bit to the right and straight. Usually if i hit a ball solidly it goes straight or maybe has a draw to it. Is there a common cause for a push? i can't seem to figure it out. how can i fix it?? thanks!!!
  5. I've played all up and down the East Coast of the US and my vote would have to go to South Carolina. From Myrtle Beach to Kiawah to Hilton Head --just for shear volume it needs to get serious consideration.
  6. My vote is for the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. When the wind is blowing it's nearly impossible.
  7. Seriously? it takes a minute to put on a head cover? It takes me 4 maybe 5 seconds. If i accidentally drop the head cover it could take as much as 8 or 9 seconds. Who are the people take take so much time to put on a head cover? Personally, i take the driver head cover off on the first tee and put it back on after the 18th. Since my 3-wood usually has the head cover on there's nothing else in my bag that would hit my driver.
  8. What would you guys say is the most forgiving driver? Not longest or anything like that but the one most likely to get you in the fairway.
  9. Considering the lack of personality from the actual professional golfers these days i welcome any personality out on the course. I'm not much of a Lopez fan but i think Bill Murray is funny. My problem is when the network only follows the celebrities that have shows on their network (which, if i'm not mistaken, is why Lopez got air time in the first place). Ray Ramano used to have every one of his shots shown, it was like watching a tournament that had Tiger in it.
  10. I was in Barnes and Noble and saw a magazine called Golf Punk which was great (kind of like Maxim for golfers) but they don't have a U.S. version, unfortunately.
  11. I agree that divots should be ground under repair, but I think the worst rule is the stroke and distance penalty for out of bounds. It should be one or the other, not both.
  12. do you guys know any good way to gain clubhead speed? any good exercises or stretching that could help?
  13. I'm looking at getting a Nike Sumo with a Proforce V2 shaft, anyone have anything good or bad to say about either? I'm about a 7 handicap with a swing speed around 95ish. There may have been a thread about either or both of these but i'm too lazy to look. What do you guys think?
  14. Do you play in a yearly tournament with your friends? Or do you have a yearly golfing trip with your friends? My friends and i have been playing a tournament every year for about 18 years now and i was just wondering if anyone else out there does the same. let me know!
  15. So i normally play a Titleist NXT Tour but I've tried the Callaway HX Tour and like them. Also heard some good things about Srixon balls. What's the best ball they have? hoping to get as much distance as i can, i seem to be able to play with anything around the greens. Thanks!
  16. I hit my sand wedge 100-105 yards but i play it off my back foot to keep it low so i can control the distance better.
  17. Ping G2i. 33/34inch. can't understand why most golf stores only carry 35 inch putters, that's too long for most people.
  18. I went through the same thing. Was looking for a forgiving players iron and checked out all the ones on your list. I didn't like the Titleist at all (after playing with DCIs for 14 years) - I didn't think that the Mizuno irons were as forgiving or as long as the R7 TP or Callaway X-20 Tours and those were the two clubs i narrowed it down to. I ended up getting the Callaway, I just seemed to be the most consistent with those - they also come with a ton of standard shaft options.
  19. I've been coming over the top and hitting everything off the toe (usually resulting in a miss left) - anyone know of drills to prevent this? thanks!
  20. I've been hitting the ball off the toe and i can't seem to stop it. I've tried standing closer to the ball or setting the ball off the heel at address and nothing seems to be working. I'm not slicing the ball i usually miss left (which is normal for me.) any thoughts???
  21. Does anyone know any good strengthening exercises you can do at home? I'm looking to build up my golf strength a little without joining a gym. thanks!
  22. I agree with what a few people said before, if you intend to put a lot of practice time in then a players club will help you improve your ball striking. if you just want to improve your play without much practice then a game improvement iron is the way to go.
  23. Does anyone have an opinion on this club? I tried it at a demo day and loved it but couldn't tell how far i was hitting it because of how the range was set up. I have a Taylor Made 580XD right now and I'm trying to figure out if its worth switching out for the Callaway. let me know what you think!!
  24. Great thread, i've been debating all of these clubs. I want to find a forgiving players club. I've hit the X-20 Tour at the range and liked it. The guy at Edwin Watts recommended the Mizuno MX 900s and the Ping I5s as well. I think the 900s might be a little too much game improvement for me. haven't had a chance to hit them yet but hopefully this weekend. Does anyone out there like the project x shaft? if i go with the X-20 Tours should i just avoid it?
