Good set of Irons for mid-handicapper
qtong replied to hacker23's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Mp-62 or mp-58. They are easier to hit than most people think and at the same time you are more 'connected' with the club and feel your mishits better while getting rewarded with the awesome feeling of the irons on well struck balls. You can't go wrong with either of these. The 58s will be more expensive but you should be able to find the 62s fairly cheapused on ebay.... -
Well here is a drill to get you to hit the ball first. Place a towel 6 inches behind the ball and grab an 8 iron and ttry to hit the ball without touching the towel. Sounds easy but... not really until you actually hit down.

Saddest thing is that I can keepadding to this thread. Today, drove the ball 50 yards to the pin on a short 330 yard par 4. Bladed it across the green, over a deep bunker, under a tree, across the next hole's tee box, over the cart path into the rough. 30 yard flop shot over all of it to about 2.5 feet, one putt, par.
-
I have you all beat. I drove the green on a 320yard par 4, pin high, FOUR putted.

Putter 60* wedge

Agreed with wrx. tour velvets are more than enough. The iomic tackys are WAY too tacky and soft.
-
Like I said, "clearance at edwin watts" apparently iomic sent them a bunch to try out and no one bought them. It was in store purchase, I had diff colors on each club but that doesn't change how they felt.
-
Very rubbery, I hate it. Then again I like cords. I got mine for 2 bucks a piece clearance at edwin watts, thank god I didn't pay a lot for them cause I switched them out a week later. I prefer the tour velvet over the iomic sticky any day.

I was hoping someone could tell me how to keep my right forearm perpendicular to the ground as well as the correct way to square up my shoulders.. Let me know what you guys think!

Just an update on the new shaft. I ended up losing about 10-15 yards but... I hit more fairways than I have ever before. I stopped hooking it and even my missed to the left were still not that bad. Ther decision is up to you, but the Xstiff 77g shaft was a fantastic move.

I got my MP-68's reshafted last week and just took them out on the range today and played a couple holes (hit 4-5 balls varying from 180-140 to the pin each hole) to see how they were on approach shots. I previously played S300s and my problems with those include: 1: hooking the ball like crazy 2: ball flew a mile high, even when I tried to play a low shot it was still higher than I'd like Safe to say the x100's fixed those issues. Shaft felt much stiffer (obviously) and my dispersion was excellent. I consistently hit a baby fade at the same distances as before without the hooks. I did find it a bit harder to play the hook though... Spin was slightly less than the S300's but that's not a bad thing; I often found myself spinning the ball off the green which started out to be cool but ended up being a huge problem. With the X100's I just drop and stop so I am very excited about that. The ball flight was beautiful! Nice low shot that cut through the wind with no ballooning. The sensicore was nice and bad at the same time. I didn't get the same feel and feedback as I used to which might be partly due to a stiffer shaft. Mishits weren't as obvious on my hands like I would like. However, due to my recent wrist and hand problems I found the 'numb' feeling kind of easier on my body. All in all, I am in love with these new shafts and hopefully be able to hit more greens!

I have been hitting my drive obnoxiously high and spraying it all over the place. So what did I do today? Got a different shaft, 77g xtiff shaft cut down to 44.5" (a total Phil Mickelson move, I know.) I'll let you know how it works out tomorrow.
-
Proforce V2 Stiff 76g. Very competitively priced especially on Ebay. Quite a steal on ebay actually. I am planning on changing over to the V2 tour flight xstiff 71g.

I am going to this! can't decide to go Sat or Sun... Sat might have less people but Sunday will be the last day...

Pulled the trigger, I have a 33" Antigua coming in tomorrow. Awesome in the store, can't wait to see how it works out on the battlefield...
-
I am also thinking antigua? Any thoughts on that one?
-
Have you tried the mid mallet? At this point I have narrowed it down to the mid blade and mid mallet and I am wondering what the differences are.
-
How is the mid mallet compared to the mid blade? They are bothe face balanced but how would the mallet differ from the blade other than the look?
-
I like the sound of the mid-mallet Rife but wouldn't it be just like the bettinardi and other face balanced putters (terrible on slow greens and long distances)?
-
Yea, the reason is because I love every piece of equipment in my bag except my putter. I don't like how light it is, how it makes a thud sound (I prefer a 'tink sound') and how it doesn't roll right after I putt but bounces all over the place. The face balance of the Bettinardi is nice but from what I remember with face balanced putter is that they are tough on slow greens or long distance putts. So the rife would make the more crisp sound? I know both of them are gonna be slightly heavier but I don't want to buy either one if it's just gonna bounce all over the place and sound like a corpse like with my Zing.
-
Hi, I am in the market for a new putter and am between the Bettinardi BHB3-c and the Rife putters (not sure which one I want, blade not the mallets.) Can anyone tell me which would be the better one to go with? I have only held them but never used them, I like the balance on both but how do they perform? What the sound like? Thanks in advanced.

MP68 paired with DGX100 vs PX 6.5 vs KBS tour
qtong replied to qtong's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
How were the KBS on spin? More or less than the x100? I was hoping for something that promoted a little more spin. Even though I have a relatively steep angle of attack the greens at the course I play are impossible to get a good check. Anywhere else and I can get the ball to one or two hop and check back about a yard. -
Hi, I have mp 68's and have TT DGS300 in them and would like to move over to a more stiff shaft. I know a lot of threads have been started about this but there are many conflicting answers. I know the x100 is lower trajectory vs the others and have more spin but thats the only definitive answer I've found. Anyone feel like chiming in on each shaft's characteristics for me? Trajectory Launch Spin Feel (very conflicting viewpoints) Distance Dispersion Thanks.

Outside to in combined with a strong grip will make you pull everysingle time. You never know if you're doing that unless you ask someone to watch you.

As a matter of fact look at Rory Mcilroy's back swing, or tiger, thats what i am talking about.
