  1. They broke during practice session or as a result of them. The 7 was right at contact. I would like to think that this very experienced club builder would have the right instructions to build the clubs. Thanks for the replies, was just wondering if anyone else had any issues.
  2. Hi All, Just purchased a new set of irons that were fitted with Dynamic Gold Super Lites. I have now broken two of the shafts (7 and PW) right down at the hosel. Please note I JUST got them and have not even played with them yet. They each lasted for around 20 or 25 hits. My clubbuilder is making things right, so I am confident they will fix this up. But I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with these shafts.
  3. See my clubs below. I'm a 10 handicap so I am one of your people. I have always been able to hit a driver, and in my opinion any damn fool can hit the drivers they are making these days. I love the advice about trying a 7 wood compared to a 20/21 degree. They are great clubs, and are especially great on those days you can't drive to save your life, so a least you have a money club to get it in play.
  4. Mike Weir is pretty much a golf God in Canada..so he goes without saying for me. I have always liked Ernie, great swing and great demeanor on the course. I am NOT a fan of Tiger, but am happy to be an active fan and golfer during "his" era.
  5. My vote is for Natalie
  6. I have 2 cobra's and will likely add the 16 degree in the next month. Had my old ones reshafted with an Accra Hybrid shaft which I expect to make a huge difference in consistantcy. The Aldila that comes with them are HL (High Launch), but the frequency on them is very whippy. Good luck.
  7. Hey Green, I just went for a full fitting experience at a place called Hot Stix Golf in Phoenix http://www.hotstixgolf.com . They had all the toys and a lot of drivers from me to hit. My guess is that you are not insane enough to fly down there, and then spend another $400 for a fitting session. But you seem to be waffling over shaft flex. Based on my 105 swing speed, I am defineatly going to a stiff flex. And because of my very high launch angles (some as high as 19 degrees) I am going with an 8.5 degree driver. I never would have dreamed of hitting that kind of loft, but when I tested the two clubs they lent me (Cleveland Hi Bore & Nike Sumo SQ) I hit them both pretty well. Still TBA on the purchase. I read about a golf fitter in Minneapolis (in Golf Digest about 2 or 3 issues ago)that does all that stuff, so maybe a "quick" trip down there will help you find the fitting I think you really need. Good luck. I hope to make the trip to fargo this year and try to play a few course down there. Les in Winnipeg.
  8. I use Brush Tee's for my driver shots and then broken/short tees for iron/hybrid/fairway woods shots. I like the consistent height you get from brush tees. They are crappy for fixing ball marks when I have forgotten my divot tool. They don't break, but the brushes will wear out after a while, and then the stupid ball won't stayed teed! So I keep some long tees in the bag just in case.
  9. I have not read all of the posts yet, but if you pay the $229 (assume you have to add gst & pst), but get 10 years out them, that $25 a year, plus $10 a year to replace spikes. I bought a pair of Footjoy Comforts at Golftown for about $100 and they were done after a season. And am about to wear out the cheap Nikes I bought for $69. I'll be looking into these Dryjoys for sure.
  10. Hi Andrew, I like your number 4 goal. If I may offer some advice, just bring your boy out to the course and let him see the beauty and fun. My course lets me rent a cart and my son can come with me to watch, caddie and just fool around a bit. He's been doing this since he was 7 and I am hoping that when he gets a little older he will play more. But I'm in no hurry. Les in Winnipeg
  11. 1. Get handicap down to and maintain at 8 2. Break 80 12 to 15 times 3. Par every hole at my hole course 4. Birdie every hole at my home course 5. Make 3 eagles 6. Improve GIR from 20-30% to 50% 7. When practicing 75% short game, 25% long game 8. Have some frigging fun!
