  1. i use oobgolf to keep track of score, fairways, playable drives, tee off club, approach shot hit/miss, and total putts. It works great but i recommend keeping track of only a few stats at once.
  2. I would say the most important thing is know your ability and don't get too overly upset when you do hit a bad shot. You say you shoot 45-48 in practice so I would say don't get frustrated and just try to do what you normally do.
  3. that sounds horrible...
  4. Congrats! It is what it is... no need to be modest
  5. Get a coach that will take you on the course and watch you play for at least 9 holes.
  6. this. just set up less and less rounds with him.
  7. hahahaha.. i hope this never happens to me
  8. I also recommend oobgolf and golfshot
  9. I don't see a problem as long as you give them a polite heads up, "hey, i'm going to jump ahead.. need to be elsewhere at x:xx. nice playing with you."
  10. I would imagine teenagers attending a golf event is from a well off family. Easy access to alcohol.. so time to get crunked!
  11. Have some common courtesy and be polite to other people and no one will bother you about playing bad. Don't be ashamed of playing with random strangers... it is pretty easy to get along as you will be spending a good amount of time with them with a common interest.
  12. How close do you think you are portrayed on the show to your normal personality and demeanor?
  13. Yes! Tottaly agree with this, why put yourself in a rush when you pay the same rate. I am alright with slow pace if the course is crowded, but all golfers should be educated to let faster groups go ahead at appropriate times.
  14. Had an incident at an upscale club where we were on the 18th green putting out and got yelled from the group behind to "get the f off the green already." We were a 4 some(3 60YOs + me) all adequate golfers including an old lady but finished the round in 4 hours. It really pissed me off since the group behind were 3 guys whom I assume were good players as that hole was a long par 5 one of their tee shots actually landed a few feet behind me on the fairway without any warning - it was a blind tee shot so I shrugged it off. I only notice that they were behind us on the 17th hole and there were still plenty of sunlight left. Pissed me off even more after the fact that I thought about they were hitting their tee shots at me. cliff: snobby players think they own the course just because they are decent at golf.
  15. 1. average under 34 putts per round 2. practice short game > 3 hours a week 3. consistently break 85 4. hit driver straight?
  16. I would like to get my unworthy hands on some Honmas just to see what makes them so expensive
  17. I would say get a used set of "game improvement" or "super game improvement" irons off ebay - almost perfect 2 year old models can be have at around $250 if not less. You can shop around for some nice brand name driver and putter(online, used) for less than 100 each. Add 2 wedges and you should come out at around $500. I recommend going this route over a walmart box set as you will get tired and mentally out grow those clubs really fast. Spend the extra money on lessons and not clubs.
  18. I love it and think they look great.
  19. Thanks. good looking out!
  20. This. Also if I do make an idiot mark on someone else's driver, I would offer to to buy it for the price they pay but I am taking the club with me. ie if I dinged someone's brand new R11, I pay for it but I am keeping the club.
  21. Disagree. Playing video games has got to be one of the cheapest hobby. Assuming you have a TV/computer. If you don't go through games like a mad man there should be no reason the cost is >$1000 per year. Basketball and running are basically free. Golf has "startup" cost and green fees is going to run >$1k even if you play only once a week during weekday twilight. Golf is also hard where hitting the ball around and shooting 120s is not exactly fun when you have to pay so much money and spend so much time.
  22. I believe those clubs are 10 years old if not more hence probably have lesser loft than today's irons with the same denominations. That means your 6i most likely has similar loft with others' 7i. That plus a modern shaft and I imagine you can be hitting 150 with a 7i on average. In your case, you might have outgrown your equipments. (I searched for Wilson Fat Shaft and found a bunch of reviews dating back to 2001. Maybe they do have newer versions)
  23. just wondering if courses allow you to stack reddot discounts with discounted online tee times?
