  1. @iacas @mdl Thank you both for the comments. Looking back at the swings I labeled 6.6.22, were those camera angles ok? I did those at a range with mats and I think it might help me with the visual alignment and flatter surface for tripod. That 3h swing I just had the phone propped up on my golf bag and no points of reference.
  2. Angle is not great but I wanted to upload one swing from today. I did a bunch of slow motion practice before doing any full speed swings. Trying to see if I can make a swing with less bending/collapsing of the arms.
  3. @iacas that’s funny…I was just reading that thread! You’ve posted lots of great info on this forum since I last frequented TST. As a musician, the 5 S makes total sense to me (I appreciated your violin analogy.) I could benefit from taking this approach to many aspects of my life.
  4. Yes, I wasn’t saying, “I tried it 5 times and it didn’t work so forget it, lol.” Just wanted to focus on one thing at a time and the ball position seemed like a good thing to start with. Point taken though, as I sort of abandoned the arm width for this session because I didn’t like the immediate results.
  5. Couple swings from today. Is the camera angle on DTL better? I tried following the camera angle advice from this forum. I attempted to move the ball position forward in my stance. Looks like I’m only about middle of stance from FO view so I will keep working on that. I tried adding more width in my swing (not over folding right arm) and hit a bunch of real wonky shots, so I decided to just focus on ball position for today.
  6. Here are a couple slow motion swings
  7. No, but I can take some FO and DTL clips in slow motion.
  8. Hi. I haven’t been active on the forum in years, and I haven’t played much golf either. 5yo daughter sidetracked me! Looking to get back to working on the swing. I posted some swings labeled with different feels I go to. Not sure if any feels are “better” or just barking up the wrong tree altogether. My game is still about the same: 7hcp, driver is steady, struggle with irons (accuracy and distance with 4-7 irons is particularly weak.) Putting and chipping fluctuates depending on how often I play.
  9. Done. Worth every penny. This advice has held up. I've played 5 rounds since, including a state tournament, and only hit one shank (awkward stance with ball in deep rough.) I'm glad I used video, because I thought I was toe-shanking until I saw this. Thanks again @iacas.
  10. @iacas, thank you. I spent about 20 minutes chipping today on the practice green, then played 18 holes. Not a single hosel rocket. If you ever need a kidney or something, let me know.
  11. Sorry for the poor quality video, but it's the only one I have of me hitting a shank. This shot keeps coming back to haunt me. Any suggestions?
  12. Thanks for the feedback. I am expecting my handicap to drop down in a couple days at the next revision for MGA. I did shoot a 77 in our club championship qualifier last Sat (entered as Tournament score) so it sounds like that may be significant in adjusting my hcp. My club does use most current hcp for tournaments so hopefully this will work itself out. The member-member is last weekend of July. If my hcp doesn't drop to a 7 or lower, I will talk to the committee.
  13. The last few years, my handicap has blown up to a 9 or 10 early in the season, and then I've started shooting scores more to my potential (74-78) during Member tournaments and league playoffs. Works out great, but I don't want to be the club sandbagger. Can I just have them play me at a lower handicap based on what seems fair? My league and tournament partner has no problem with this.
  14. Thank you @mvmac . I worked on turning rates today (keep cranking the hips.) Hit some draws with the irons which was a nice change from my usual leaky fades. Wasn't able to video unfortunately. Like the feeling of getting more coiled and creating space for the arms.
  15. I think if you stick with the advice of the pros on this forum, you are going to build a great swing. Good to hear your scores are improving, but I wouldn't be overly concerned with that when you are making swing changes. You will break 90, and then want to break 80, and then still want to get better. Expect setbacks but stay the course.
