  1. Golfworks.com has some good stuff on learning club repair on the right hand side of the page. There are some good books that golf works puts out.
  2. I work at a driving range that custom fits people. The first line we always ask the customer is what do you want to see changed in your ball flight. We then base everything off that. If you are seeing a difference in ball flight or contact and you like it, go ahead and get them cut down.
  3. I think that gloves are protection against calluses on your hand. They only help feel if they are new and fit snug. I tend to only use gloves in the summer when it is hot because my hands sweat a lot. Fred Couples is a good example of a player on tour who does not use a glove.
  4. My grandmother introduced me to golf when I was eight. I was so repulsed by it that I gave it up until I was 14 when my best friend started to pick it up. I have been playing avidly ever since.
  5. Wie has gotten too much attention from the beginning. She is a whinny girl who thinks that the PGA Tour will hand her spots in tournaments forever, just because of publicity and nothing else. She has shown that at certain times, she can play well, but she has not shown that she can do it over a long period of time. I think she quit playing for a few years, finish college, and then maybe start competitive golf again. I'm tired of hearing the Golf Channel talk about her when she is not playing good. Wie should earn her press time the way tiger did, playing his ass off and winning tournaments, especially majors.
  6. I had the same thoughts when I first switched to blades and have gone through the ups and downs of my golf swing and have even gone through the shanks with blades, but all in all, it what you feel comfortable with. I feel the most comfortable and confident looking down at a thin top line even if I am not hitting the ball well. One of my best friends who is a better ball striker than I am plays Taylor made OS 2 irons because the smaller club head physics him out. It’s very personal trying to figure out when to start playing better clubs and I suggest you try to see if you can rents some for a week or so and see how they feel not so much from a playing perspective but from a visual and mental perspective.
  7. I work at a golf club fitting place that fits Titleist and Ping clubs and I think the S58s would be a better fit for you. Personally, I have hit both irons and I think that the 695cbs are a little awkward but the S58s are a good blend of workability and forgiveness. If I am fitting someone for irons, I would only recommend Titleist blades. Also, I have yet to find someone that dislikes the S58s.
  8. Between those two options, I would say the S58s. Callaway does not have a history of good player's irons and the Pings will be an easier transition into player’s irons.
  9. I may be a little prejudice because of where I live, but I think that The Memorial should be the fifth major. The Masters started out as Bobby Jones' tournament and The Memorial is Jack's tournament. Lately, The Memorial has been a breeding ground for future stars to win.
  10. Personally, I have found that putting lead tape (the role of lead tape, not those bulky strips sold in packs of eight) on the bottom of the putter helped me. I put two long strips on mine that completely covered the bottom so it did not sit awkward on the ground and it did not look different from the top while I was putting.
  11. How cool would it be if for the battle of the lefties, four ball: Phil M. and Steve Flesch vs. Mike Weir and Nick O'Hern.
  12. It is great to see Mike Weir in the winners circle again. He is such a skilled player that he should be there more often. My only disappointment is that the seasons over and Mike might not be able to carry this confidence till next season.
  13. With more wrist cock, you tend to get a higher shot and with less, you get a lower trajectory shot.
  14. The open championship is the most important championship because it was the first, and it requires a wider range of shots needed.
