    My Swing (Alx)

Ive been meaning to update this thread for a few years now but just havent gotten around to it. Back in 2019 I had to deal with some health problems that sidelined me from golf or really any physical activity. Luckily the timing was perfect for recovery since we cant really play golf at all in the winter months anyways, apart from indoor training and thats kinda pricey. Beginning of last year I went from a fade to a draw. Not because I necessarily wanted to draw the ball as a stock shot, but I wanted to get more control over my swing in general. Here are some small draws with a 22hybrid. And some drivers
  2. Well, if you take someone who is completely out of shape then doing pretty much any activity will result in hypertrophy but thats short lived. But no, the load is too low. If someone is worried about or wants to correct imbalances you dont address that with reverse swings or anything sport specific. These speed training things are a bit of a gimmick for regular people imo. Speed training, dynamic effort etc. have been around for ever and while it does work its pretty specialized and honestly most ppl would gain more speed by simply building a proper strength base, but its obviously not as cool as swinging a stick 😄. Dont get me wrong this kind of training does work, but generally you will adapt quickly and stagnate.
  3. Apples and oranges. Speed training is not for hypertrophy, curls are. Since its mainly for recruitment and technique I wouldnt be too worried even if you do only the dominant side.
  4. Sure I do, but just because the share is smaller doesnt make it okay. I dont see people criticizing the Saudis funding the LET series or general backing on the ladies side, at least to this extent. The point I am alluding to is that the fact that people are generally ok or disregard Saudis funneling money to existing entities is what paved the way for things like LIV that are fully Saudi backed. Theyre just poking in to see if the world is "ready", if you will. And just so were clear I am not a fan of sportswashing but like I said, the fact that people ignore the small things that are along the logic of "only 1 of 8 sponsors" etc. is what leads to this type of stuff being more widespread, accepted, allowed, and extreme. ps. I dont know what kinds of deals the players might have regarding comments (and I doubt you do either?) so I dont feel comfortable commenting on it but I get what youre saying. But then again you wouldnt really badmouth someone who just "hired" you anyways regardless of who they were.
  5. This is the point I was trying to make. It seems that as long as the Saudis are funneling money to the existing entities its ok but creating something on their own is the problem. If people cant see the obvious double standard with that take...
  6. So I take it you were actively boycotting the recent British open? Given it was sponsored by HSBC, you know the bank that has been making a push to the middle eastern market and was the main western partner of the Saudi Aramco listing? The same HSBC conglomerate that up until now has refused to leave the Russian market...
  7. Pretty disappointed by the yt coverage. The range streams are great but highlights are absolutely abysmal.
  8. Before you throw in the towel completely consider trying an even shorter shaft for the driver. I am pretty condifent in saying you would hit a driver with a 3h length shaft further and at least as accurately as the 3h.
  9. I guess the main point is that the takes are just too long for my taste. LIV does it better here. 😂
  10. Watched some of the LIV broadcasts and I gotta say they are just better than the PGA/DP coverage. Its more fast paced and less time spent with the long-winded scenic shots or just watching a player setup for their shot for an obscene amount of time. Like who thinks its a good idea to show 3 minutes of a player who barely made a cut lining up a 35 foot straightish putt? I dont mind seeing the actual putt, but I dont want to watch the ridicilous preparation for such a meaningless shot. Dont get me wrong, the scenic shots and longer takes have their place in a broadcast when shown occasionally.
  11. Depends on the priorities. If I want to prioritize strength training Ill just take a rest day from golf or workout before golf. If I am just doing it for maintenance usually after.
  12. Considering the LIV channel is pretty new, and probably not getting pushed by the algo getting 100k viewers is decent. I like the broadcast, the cuts are short enough and the graphics are good. Some kinks to iron out still, such as the score sound. Ultimately I think the PGA tour has no one to blame for this but themselves. Theyve had a monopoly on pro golf for years and instead of capitalizing theyve largely failed or refused to evolve. The access to their product through "modern" media like yt, twitch, and other free streaming is also pretty poor. Ill definitely watch at least some of the LIV tournaments just because its there and easy to view, at least for now.
  13. Do you feel this strongy about the UAE working with the PGA?
  14. Anecdotally it definitely narrows and I would say its most significant with shorter putts. This year Ive been doing some of my practice at another local course with much better greens and the difference in making those shorter putts is huge.
  15. I always thought there was something going on with the whole "forgiveness" scam... Ive hit clubs at multiple demos and always asked the rep to give me the tiniest blade and the biggest shovel they had. Mishitting with a tiny blade always felt like I barely hit the face but looking at the performance it really wasnt doing that bad. Mishits with the more "forgiving" clubs had a much duller feel and the results were often unpredictable. For me seeing this data pretty much confirms what I was feeling and seeing wasnt my mind playing tricks on me.
