  1. i have a 5 wood in my bag and its great off the tee when i dont use my driver, and its amazing on the fairway when i need to give the ball some distance. it doesnt need to be hit hard to go far and straight. i dont have a 3 iron cause i hated it on my old set, plus my new set starts at 4i sooo yeah. ive never hit a hybrid ever, so i cant tell you anything about that but definitely look into a 5w. try out the taylormade burner if you get a chance, it feels and hits great.
  2. very true, and i agree. same thing applies for where i play, sometimes the afternoons are so dead i dont have anyone in front or in back of me.
  3. i got my new taylormade r7 irons last week from my local shop for 300 bucks. im pretty happy about them since i had an old tommy armour 855s set that was great to learn with, but im ready to step it up. after a few trips to the range, im so freaking happy with them, easy to hit, forgiving, great feel. also, i forgot to add....i didnt really go to the golf store but, i had a 100 dollar gift certificate on amazon, so i bought a new stand bag, taylormade monza in white/red/yellow/black. matches the rest of the taylormade stuff in my bag =]. i got a cheapo bag towel cause i couldnt find my old one. ill be using it temporarily until i buy a new nicer towel after i get my bag in the mail.
  4. what course on long island?? at my local course its 40 bucks for twilight (2-3pm) non member including cart weekday, 60 weekend. members pay 24 during the week and tee off at whatever time they want. have you ever played at eisenhower??
  5. ive had fun rounds playing with strangers as well, and as for the morning golfers, youre right about that, they book early to get theyre stuff done quickly haha
  6. at my course, i usually play after 2pm and its DEAD out there. i dont see anybody for 2 holes in front or behind me so i play 2 balls. on the other hand, on a nice spring/summer day, 2pm is a great time to go out and play so dont be surprised if you get paired up. the people ive gotten paired up with are really nice so dont worry about joining in on a group. i once played the front 9 with some lady and then she left so i joined up with the 3 some in front of us for the back 9. oh and regarding the wife thing, when my girlfriend goes out with me on the course, shes playing along with me so i cant really give you advice there, all i know is that my course doesnt allow spectators, people who want to "ride along" have to pay for the round. =[ also, i forgot to add, at my girlfriends country club, the people play relatively quickly and my girlfriend always gets pissed thinking theyre riding up ours, but i tell her, theyre playing quick, were playing at a normal pace so they can wait a couple of minutes to hit have fun and have a great round
  7. i never watched jack play since im only 19 but from what i grew up watching, tiger is the man. tiger also has a lotttt of years in his career left to surpass jack's record so when its all said and done i think tiger will be the best in the future
  8. i am a college student that plays golf on fridays pretty often since its my day off (i packed in all of my classes during the week to have a 3 day weekend every weekend). during vacations and during summer break i play at least 3 times a week at my local course
  9. the other day i was playing at my local course where most holes are either par 3 or 4s (only one par 5 on the whole course lol), and i got up to the 13th hole par 4 and hit a mean drive that seemed to go a bit left. i was pretty mad as there was a little stream behind some trees on the left so i thought i ended up in there. when i finally went to go look for the ball i was in the rough to the left of the whole about 10 yards from the stream. all i needed was a nice chip onto the green to get a chance for birdie. i was playing with 3 guys that were new to the course and they were waiting for my shot as they were all on the green by then, and before i knew it, i chipped it up and it rolled into the hole. the guys were pretty funny they went nuts. they said "ive been playing for 15 years and have never gotten an eagle, and you get an eagle before me." those are the kind of shots that make you come back to the course for more haha probably the only eagle i will ever for a long time to come.
