Hi everyone,

I've been playing golf with a semblance of regularity for perhaps 3 months now. Had three lessons too and my coach suggested I upgrade my old junky clubs (the no-name-brand, found-at-a-garage-sale variety) for something better.

So I went to my local store planning on purchasing the Wilson C200s, which are exactly what I'm looking for according to what I've read online. However, they were out of stock - but they do have a set of second-hand D350s in good condition that just got traded in. The guy at the shop said they're pretty similar-quality clubs.

There isn't nearly as much online regarding the D350s, although one article I read suggested they are super-improvement clubs that are "particularly" super - as in they are insanely forgiving but pretty much impossible to do anything more advanced like hitting an intentional draw or fade.

They're going to send through their pricing of the 2nd hand D350s tomorrow, but I'm a bit nervous about them because while I'm a beginner now, I want clubs that I can keep playing with even if I become a genuine mid-or-better handicap player (my coach reckons if I keep going I've got a good enough swing that I could dip into the single digit handicap realm).

My questions are these:

1. Are the D350's good enough to play with even if I get into the mid-handicap levels, or are they only good for beginners?

2. How do they compare to the C200s (ignoring new vs second hand)

3. What pricing should I be looking at for 2nd hand D350s in good nick in comparison to new C200s?

Thanks!

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
