I have a George wallet from Wal-Mart that has lasted me since I bought it 2 years ago.

check out some Ralph or Kenneth Cole wallets they should have decent stuff and are designer I'd say which wouldn't cost nearly as much as armani or versace

Keep in mind that any "designer" products you buy on EBAY are likely fake.

With that in mind, I have used a Polo wallet for two years now. It's a well-built wallet with plenty of room for the basics (money, cards, ID's, etc). I also used a Louis Vuitton for my first two years in college. It was a catchy wallet, however it wasn't contructed very well. If you're wanting to attract a lot of attention, I recommend it, but if you want something classy and dependable, I would go Polo.

I need a wallet that is acceptable in "high end" social situations.

My wife is the fashion lover between the two of us. She has a number of purses and matching wallets....the latest being by Coach.

I, on the other hand, get good service out of a basic brown leather trifold wallet. When it gets worn badly, I'll go to a department store and get another one for under $20. I've had the expensive eelskin jobs in the past and they were a waste of $$$. I'd rather get a utilitarian wallet and spend more on better golf balls :)

I think I've decided to go Coach.

From the research I have done, it seems to be a good quality wallet, with a good quality name brand, at the same time it doesn't threaten to remove points from my "man card" the way a louis Vuitton or even a Prada would.

My lady bought me a Louis a couple of years ago for Christmas. I think they are about 500, but the thing still looks brand new after a couple of years.

I like the choice. I have a Coach leather key chain that looks just like it did when some fashion-sick ex-girlfriend gave it to me ten years ago.
