There's a difference between being wrong and making a joke. Your example statement is stupid because it's simply an invalid statement, whereas the Norman picture was clearly in the context of a joke.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain the "joke". The OP posts a pic of Greg Norman with a large caption saying "EPIC FAIL". Why is it funny? You say it is "clearly a joke". I thought that a joke was something that included a degree of wit, intelligence, perhaps irony and clever word play. Where does this example fit in. To me, it's none of these. It's a cheap, crude, witless, predictable shot.

Now - if some readers find it hilariously funny or mildly amusing, great, but I can do without your pity and ridiculous hyperbole. Now if your previous comment on how I had shamed everyone under the sun was an example of ironic humour, then I find that funny, because it is an excellent form of defusing a stressful situation, but I fear that it was meant in all seriousness. Of course I can choose to ignore any thread I like, and may be contributing to the elemnts of this site I am finding superfluous by keeping this going (Harry Potter, Cigars, Babe polls, cars) but would still appreciate an explanation of why you find it such a fine piece of humour. Apologies to the OP and anyone else, who's over this already, but , rubbery, I think you're a little too offended to be taken seriously, so I assume you're only joking. My last comment on this topic. Feel free to have the last word if you feel you must. (I expect you will.)

I thought it was funny because his hand had come off the club and had hit a bad shot, hence the fail. I suppose there might be a link to the British Open, but for god sake its a joke, people should calm themselves instead of making such a big deal about it.

You said it yourself.

Personally, that's why I find the picture entertaining, it's ironic. Like I said, Greg Norman is a legend; failure is not something with which he is often associated, and like Jay_B said, his hand is off the club like he had just hit a bad shot which just adds to the irony. I never said I laughed so hard milk shot out of my nose. The picture is amusing at best. And for the record, you're right, most of what I have been saying has been a joke. The only thing I've been mostly serious about was the "get a life" statement, but I still found space to toss a joke in with the awe, at least you proved to me you actually do have a sense of humor by finding it funny. I'm done with this as well. Good day, sir.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
