You are right---one of the difficult aspects of golf is that you have to accept responsiblity for failure, and some people cannot do that. They have always blamed someone else in another sport (especially a team sport) or in business. It is true that playing golf with someone quickly reveals his or her character. One of the appeals of golf for me is that I do have to take the blame for failure. That does not mean that I like failure, but being sales oriented, I know that you can close only 1 out of 10 possible sales so you have to accept failure. That does not make you a bad sales professional. One or two bad shots does not make you a bad golfer.

a buddy of mine is really good at this... but you can tell when he's having a bad round even if the scorecard doesnt reflect it... he get ultra quiet after a few bad shots and wont talk at all untill the round is over... hahaha

I was playing with a friend and two strangers not long along. StrangerA hit an approach shot that fell short and said "not enough club".

StrangerB's response was "it was plenty of club - not enough golfer".

I think that you and StrangerB would get along just fine
