There are some serious babies who play this game. This happened to me yesterday, and it wasn't at Golf Smith, but I guess this is a good place to post it. I'm playing a round with my Dad and they pair us up with a couple of heavy set guys who are a bit obnoxious. We get to the 9th tee and we finally catch up with the group in front of us, a foursome of guys all aged 50 I guess, or so it seemed from a distance.

We can see one guy from their group is taking his sweet time walking off the green. I'm getting a bit annoyed, but I notice that there is something in the way he's walking that says he may be handicapped. Meanwhile, over my shoulder, I hear one of the two other guys in my group yell "HEY AS*HOLE! LET'S GO!!"

Wow, was I embarrassed. I finish up that hole pretty quickly so I can get to the turn and get a bottle of water at the halfway house where I run into that group ahead of us. They were really nice to me and let our group play through. Turns out, the guy walking so slowly is an Iraq War veteran who was playing a round with his Dad and his Dad's friends. He was playing with a prosthetic leg, which obviously slowed him. The two idiots we were playing with didn't say a thing. They just went about their business and played through.

There are just some people in this world who have absolutely no respect for their fellow man....

and you let people like this bother you??

I see and deal with all sort of idiots at our golf shop. You just ahve to accept people for what they are: idiots.

yes it has..

So, what happened? Your story is worse than mine.

I believe that golf sometimes attracks a certain kind of guy. An a-hole. I was on the "golf review" forum and some guy posts a thread, "How do you mark your ball?" This one guy replies, "I was at the golf course the other day when we let this single hook up with my 3-some. He asked how we mark our ball, and I told him, "shut the F up and just hit the f'n ball. I don't care how you mark your ball." I would have left them right there. Some guys are so insecure it comes out as trying to be an a-hole.

    • Day 9: 12/18/2024 Okay so about 15 minutes of focused mirror work today and I still have the station set up outside my office door so every time I enter or leave I get 1 to 5 extra slow-mo swings in.  The PPJ swing thought is getting better. In terms of PP I need to make sure I keep the attention on using the ground up through the movement and not just "going through the motions".  The J part, I have to focus on my lead sit-bone driving directly away from the ball. I still like to go up and out on that when I lose focus.  Repetitive slow-mo and medium-mo swings are helping.
    • What technology? There’s not much. Or a spreadsheet. 🤣😜
    • I was thinking about what you suggested on this. And it's very possible its true.  I was also thinking, why wouldn't they have a piece of software that tells them something like: "If you drill the shaft hole at x angle and the shaft is y long, but the weights in A, B and C locations at D, E and F amounts? I mean we aren't modelling anything here that isn't a known relationship?  I've been in the manufacturing world a long time (33 years.) I've worked for and seen tons of manufacturers in the US who can handle one-piece flow with no hiccups what so ever.  I would love to take a plant tour and offer my services to these guys. On a whim, I looked on their webpage and they do have two positions available. A fulfillment associate and a fitting representative. Both at positions are at their plant in OR. Neither of these was a lean manufacturing engineer so I moved on.  I apologize for beating this dead horse.  I'm not sure why the cost adder for custom built from standard parts bothers me so much. It could be because I've worked so many places that just have you build up a nomenclature which relates to a build sheet and end of line test. Which equals no cost adder for standard parts. Maybe it's because I once toured the Roles Royce plant in England and thought "I'd never feakin buy one of these cars." Maybe I've been spoiled by PXG and Mizuno, the last two places I've order custom fit irons from. They customized each club including lie angle tweaks, loft tweaks, length tweaks, weight port tweaks, etc... No cost adder.
