I am looking at several game improvement all hybrid style iron sets like the King Cobra Transition-s and the Cleveland HiBiore. My concern is playing out of the rough with an iron with such a wide sole and unique design. I was always told you need a thin club with a sharp edge to get out of the rough and this newer style of club is definitely not that. I have heard that they are easier to hit out of the rough since they make you come down on the ball more and the wide sole glides through the grass and come out easier and I have heard that they are harder as the sole deflects off of the grass and it is hard to get down on the ball.

Obviously these are mutually exclusive opinions so which is the truth?

I recently bought an Adams Ideal 3 iron hybrid. They also do it in a bigger head but the pro told me the standard head can be hit easily out of rough. He was right. It's a tremendous club off fairway, tee or rough, cuts through the rough great! Would recommend it!!

Bag: Taylor Made Stand Bag
Driver: Founders Club Fresh Metal 460cc Titanium
Hybrid: 3 iron Adams IDEA
Irons: Mizuno MX-17 4-SW
Putter: Yes! Sandy putter

a sharper leading edge is probably only recommended for great ball strikers and low handicappers. if you come in behind the ball, no matter the lie, the club will likely dig and will limit the contact you get with the ball. best case, the ball will come out clean but only go about 50 yards...more likely, a wicked shank

in my bag:

Driver: '08 Cobra F Speed LD 10.5 w/UST Proforce V2 Tour Flight stiff

Fairway: Adams Speedline Fast10 3-wood w/Aldila Wasabi stiff
Hybrid: Nickent 3dx 3H
Irons: Nike CCI forged 4-pw Wedges: Nike Victory Red 52 56 60 Putter: Rife Mr. Beasley Balls: Bridgestone B330-RX Tees: epoch
