I am looking to buy a used Titlesit 980F 15deg fairway metal. Does anyone have any opinions on this club? Also it has a steel shaft. Would you recommend changing shafts if I were to buy it? I am not worried about distance, I want this club to be an alternative to my Driver off the tee for improved accuracy.

I have this same club, and I love it! I bought mine used in ebay, also with a steel shaft (TT DG S300), and it had worked perfectly to me.
I don't have any plans to change the shaft, although you may have to consider it if your distance gaps get screwed: to me, I hit this club closer to my 3i distances than from my driver (3i~215, 3w~240, drv~280), but since I don't use a 5w or an hybrid, it works for me. If you do use any of these clubs, you may gain a few yards by changing the shaft to increase the SS.

Thanks! Do you use it off the tee also? If so, how does it feel? What distance do you get with it? It sounds like we get about the same distance with our clubs.

I use it a lot from the tee. My home course is very short (par 68), so I rarely use my driver; it has a very small head so I tee the ball low (almost flush), and when I hit it pure and straight, I can get 250~260 yds of carry.

The feeling is great, it has a very nice sound and feedback. This is my first fairway wood, so I can not compare it to any other; it is possible that this club is not the longest or more forgiving. What I know is that I liked it so much, that I changed my driver after using this club.

How is the workability with it? Pretty easy to shape a shot? How is your accuracy with it?

Maybe I am not the best person for this question, since I am still working with my workability and accuracy, but here are my 2 cents: To me is very easy to hit draws and fades with this club, although I over shape my shots quite often, so I try to stick with my natural shot (a draw). Same for accuracy, I trust this club, but my mechanics are still a work in progress

, so I eventually pull or push my shots (not a problem of the club, of course).

You guys are much better players than I am, but I will say that I also have the 980 fairway metal and I will NOT be replacing it anytime soon. I love the way it hits and love the way it sets up behind the ball. Give me a real sense of confidence. Plus, I got it used from a Golfsmith for like $45 early last year.

You'd be doing yourself a disservice by not trying out the 904F while you're at it. It's the first 3 wood I've ever been happy with. It favors a slight draw but is easily workable and since reshafting it with a Rifle Steel shaft I'm able to control the trajectory as well whether off the tee or off the deck.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
