Hey, first off i'd just like to clarify, i have been away from the game for around 5 years, and although my current handicap is around 15 after a few weeks back(short game and putting is in ruins!) , I played off 4 before university, and am hoping to get back there soon. I used to use Maxfli Revolution Black dot, the half cavity clubs, which i absolutely adored but a lack of golf courses near me and limited transport led me to sell them a while back. I came home 3 weeks ago, and managed to pick up a Nike Tour sq driver cheaply, and titleist 909f 3 wood, both of which im hitting well, but I only have my dad's 15+ year old wilson blades which although contend for distance with my peers, they are about to fall apart.
I have always been a good ballstriker with my irons, ability to shape shots is important to me, and I tend to have a medium trajectory. So, I'm looking to buy a set of irons, ideally mid cavity or blades. I've heard a lot of good things about the mizuno mp-67, and the mp-33s, and am hoping to get a demo on them this weekend. Although price isn't a big issue at the minute, I have seen some cheap good condition sets of the original Nike forged blades for sale and (i know very little about them) and haven't hit them either. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction as to whether or not im way off the mark looking at these irons in terms of playability, feel etc, or if I have missed an obvious choice in my so far rather limited search.
Of course there is no substitute for actually hitting the clubs yourself, but i was hoping to find some other opinions as well! Thanks very much.
