Course, I'm playing 9 holes at a time, so that means i've gotta shoot in the forties twice in a row. But hey, we'll see.

I just broke 100 for the first time as well over the holiday weekend. I shot a 53 on the front 9 and around the 15 or 16th hole, I remembered something from when my father was teaching me the game. It was the old "keep your left arm straight" adage, but it wasn't JUST that. I remember something clicking inside me when I attempted to keep it straight, and not thinking about anything else. The swing kind of flowed naturally and I thought as a kid that there me must be one thing that people think about that distracts them enough to do it right. Oh if I only I hadn't given up golf after he died...

So I step up to the tee:

My drive, which normally flies 180 yards and then extreme slices to the right into the woods, suddenly flew straight with a slight left to right curve to it. It was a blind uphill shot, but I knew it had stayed in the fairway. I got to the top of the hill and went past my partners a little ways to look for my ball. I saw a few in the fairway (my partner and his wife will hit two if there is noone behind us), but couldn't approach them safely until after she hit. I started walking to the ball and the guy says "Hey, that's mine! Yours is up there." I saw a ball maybe 60 - 70 yards from the green and actually didn't believe him. No way in Hades did I hit a ball straight and 270 yards. Sure enough it was mine and I still can't believe it.

That shot got me on a run and I made par on the last three holes to make a 47 on the back 9 with a total of 100 for the day. I was excited about coming close but when I got home and put my stats in scorecard, I realised I had miscounted and actually had 52 on the front 9 giving me a 99 for the day.

Man does that make up for all the bogey's and double bogeys.

Awesome.! You didn't break 100 you crushed it with a 93!!

I managed a 102 last weekend and am hoping I might crack the 100 mark this weekend myself.

Did you have a plan that you followed to break through or did you just have a day where things came together? I'm planning to leave the driver in the bag and tee off with something shorter but more reliable, probably 4h or 5i. I cost myself off the tee badly.

Congrats......Today was my third time to play this year after a 20 year layoff.
First round 108, second round 9 holes 47, third round today 101. I can tell if coming back ever so slowly. Today was weird, opened with a 10 then 8 then 5 pars in a row. By the time we made the turn fatigue was setting in. But what a rush to go for birdie putts.
Every goal is a major step. My goal is by 5's. First it was to beat 105, done. Next to beat 100, almost there. Then 95 hope to be there before the summers out.

Again congrats, gotta walk before you run.

I finally broke 100 today!!! I shot a 98. 52 on the front 9, 46 on the back. The story that got me under a 100, was when one of my friends found this pink ball on the sencond par 3 on the front 9. I used it on the par 3, got a bogey, played it on the last hole on the front nine, sank in a par put. I concluded I would use it for the rest of the day, and boy did it turn out. I got par on a par 5 on the first hole on the back nine, and that set me off. Best golf I've ever played, and man, that pink ball felt awesome around/on the green. But anyways, that pink ball is going in my glass golf ball trophy display thing.

"drive for show, putt for dough"
