Cobra S91 or Nike STR8 FIT

I have just over $200.00 in credit at Golf Galaxy. I am looking at buying a new driver. After reading a number of reviews, I have narrowed down my choices to either the Nike Dymo2 STR8 Fit (square-shaped head) or the Cobra S91.

My swing speed is just below 80 mph with my driver.

Looking for a driver that will hit the ball straight most of the time.

If you had this credit to spend, which driver would you buy?

The S9-1 is cheaper than the Dymo STR8 Fit. Cobra drivers are known for being long and forgiving and for your swingspeed I would reccomend the S91-M or the S9-1 M OS (the offset version) if you struggle with a slice.

Just based on your swing speed you should probably look at the Cobra S9 first. It's comes with a light shaft and they have models specificly deisgned for different swing speeds. The STR8-Fit is also worth a look, but make sure to look for the one with the 59 gram shaft. The nice thing about it is that you can adjust it if your swing changes a little and you need some correction. It's almost like owning more than one driver. I am very happy with the one I own, though I have it set square, but I like the fact that I could change it if I needed to and that gives me some confidence and I do not suffer from buyer's remorse for fear I made the wrong choice.

At your swing speed the main things to look for is a light shaft and a little more loft than you might think (maybe even as much as 11.5* (or more). With the modern driver more loft will help you get more distance at that kind of SS. Good luck with your decision and the process.

Let me start off by saying both are excellent choices!

I recently went to a fitting/demo day, and out of all the drivers, those two stood out the most! (I also tried the Callaway FT-9, FT-iQ & Big Bertha Diablo, TaylorMade Burner and one other which I can't remember at the moment)

I decided on the Nike Dymo2 11.5* Driver, the widebody version, not the srt8 fit.

My advice would be to try both and see which you prefer.

I went with the Nike as I felt it was the most forgiving - and the srt8 fit is also a good idea if you don't mind spending the little extra for the adjustability.

Sorry man, I cant help you on the Cobra, never hit that one, but I do have the Str8 Fit. I love it. I think it was mentioned before, but based on your speed, make sure you look for a little lighter shaft, like the 59g. I think the AXIVCore shaft is a big part of the reason I love this driver. It just feels so solid, everthing feels nice and under control, and as a whole, it seems like this driver doesnt generate a ton of spin.

At first, I wasnt really worried about opening or closing this thing, as much as I was being able to change the loft. Let me say that having that adjustability has been great! There have been some days I went out, and it happened to be a windy day. Normally I hit the ball just a tiny bit higher than I'd really like, so I opened it up/cranked it down to 7.5° or 8.5° and everything was great! Problem solved! Even off-center shots are great. I really could go on and on about it, but I'll shut up now
