17* or 19* hybrid?

Looking to fill the gap between my 3-wood and my 3-iron, and want to fill it witht the Titleist 909H. I hit my 3 wood roughly 240 or so, and my 3-iron around 210, but somewhat inconsistently. Which would you go with? Suggestions on which angle?

Hard to say. But id probably go with the 19 for you. Its probably a more versatile loft and you wouldnt have any overlapping issues with your 3 wood. If youre inconsistant with your 3i, then the 19 could also double as a "safe club" from 200-215, based on how far you say you hit.

Ive found that the club performs well out of light to moderate rough. The ball wont launch very high, but it will come out pretty hot.

I find the traditional hybrids to be hook city but I have never tried the Titleist. I have a real hard time not hitting quick low hooks. I love my 5 wood though. Highly useful.

Unfortunately, everything I have been hitting lately has been Hook City. It's pissing me off.

The 909's have a half degree open face and not that much offset, so that should help with the hook some.

How do you compare the 909H with other hybrids you've used?

They are really clean looking!!! I've never hit one, though.

I struggled with a similar decision this past spring. I ended up with a 19º and found that I can hit it a wide variety of distances. Pretty much anywhere from 195 to 225, and then the 3-wood takes over.

IMO you are better off with the 19º. One of the things I considered was how many times I was in that distance range (for a 17º). On my regular courses, I had a much greater need for a club that I could hit accurately from 200-220. I hit off the tee pretty well and rarely found myself in that yardage range on any par 4's. The holes just aren't that long. There is the occasional par 3 with the right wind, and every once in a while I would be there on a par 5, but hitting the green in two isn't absolutely necessary. I guess my point is, you are better off with something you can hit a lower yardage because that situation will come up more often.

I've only hit a handfull of hybrids, and the majority of them were off of an astro turf pad, but I just like the way the Titleist feels. I'm a Titleist junkie though, so I'm a little biased.

I've got a 21 degree hybrid but it's more of a driving iron (like the G15 ones).
It goes pretty low and far.

Nowadays hybrids are a lot like a fairway wood nowadays.
a 3 wood is around 15 degrees
a 3 iron is around 21 degrees.
18 seems like a happy medium.
If you can't get 18* go up to 19*

My solution was a 21° 7-wood, the same as my 3-wood. I love it! Choke up on it for shorter shots. I liked it so well I also picked up a 24° 9 wood which I hit very nicely, but I also hit my 4 iron about the same distance, so I'm not sure which one will stay in the bag.

My 19* and 22* work great and I do not carry 3 iron and even 4 iron, working good for me.

I had a similar issue I went from 4 iron to 3 wood I just picked up a 19* hybrid and it has helped fill the gap greatly I have played 3 rounds with it in my bag and 200-230 shots its dead on and i'm hitting more par 5's in two even when playing the 3 wood off the tee and those long par 3's are alot easier. I never hit the Titleist but picked a barley used Tour burner style rescue on line really cheap and its awsome!

Bc my 3-iron routinely saved me from all the trees I end up under off the tee box

Lefty your not kidding about the hooks with hybrids! Does anyone know why that is?

I hit either straight, or a baby draw, but with these hybrids, its a low hook almost every time. As for the OP, I would go with the 19*. Its gonna be much more versatile than the 17. Jim
