I planned on getting winter boots, but unfortunately I didn't get to the store before all this snow. So, I've been using my old golf shoes as snow shoes. They are quite effective - waterproof and good traction. I wonder if they'd be better for everyday use if I took off the plastic spikes, or if this would render them useless.

I do not know how you are doing in Brooklyn out here on Long Island I need chest waders to get around in the snow.We are getting upwards of 30 inches so the next time I play bethpage it will be to sleigh ride not golf.

some brands of golf shoes have traction studs along with the spikes. If the shoes are old, you could use some of that waterproof spray to improve their "waterproofness"

I wonder how some spikeless shoes would work....I've always found they have less traction, but they last forever.
