I think I'm finally going to jettison my Palm m125 and seek out a PDA my aging eyes can handle better.

As such I'm open to suggestions for a sub $100 PDA (please, no iPod/iTouch/iPhones) and recommendations on some scoring software for it. I'm inclined toward something that runs Linux (but not mandatory) and can sync to OpenOffice running under XP.

Having taken over my league's secretarial duties I have become increasingly statistic oriented and would like to try keeping track of things during play with some decent software. I don't think Scorecard qualifies as I don't believe it runs on the PDAs I'm looking at, but I'll toss the need out to the members here and ask what y'all might recommend.

Suggestions are welcome!

    • Day 6: Worked on my putting stroke by hitting putts using only my right hand.
    • I've got pretty big hands but I've also felt the challenge of ensuring the grip is in the fingers resulting in a not on purpose stronger grip. I've been making some swing changes that was resulting in the natural feeling at impact being a closed face. My grip has always been fairly strong. Not trying to sound like an asshole or anything, but the answer for me at least was just to start taking the grip from a weaker starting point! I have a pretty ingrained hand and wrist setup when I take my grip. I just started turning the club to have an open face when I start my getting the grip in the pinky routine. Has been working nicely. Lets me have the grip in my fingers and achieve a more neutral grip.
    • @dennyjonesand I are planning to stay in the Poland, OH area Friday night.  If any want to get together for dinner and/or drinks let us know. We are not sure exactly where we will stay or what time we will get there but if we can hook up with any of you it would be fun.
    • Yes, this was a competition for local golf professionals, so I knew he was at minimum a pretty competent player.  I also asked what kind of shot he needed to play, if he had wanted to go steeply down it could have altered my thinking.  But he needed a pretty level angle of attack to get the ball up, and have it stop near the hole.  Given those factors, and the depth of the grate below the ball, there really was no possibility that the grate would interfere with his swing.
