My friend after trying out the Di9's decided not to get them. (The fat shaft and off-centre sweetspot don't work)

Has anybody here tried the VR full cavity backs?

My friend isn't really looking for distance it's more about accuracy.

I actully had some fun with a nike rep on the launch mointer after the demo night ended at the club im a member at. We are just mucking around trying to get different ball speeds and launch angles and all that stuff.
I was just having so some and picked up one of these irons by mistake........ wow :P I actully really liked this club and I hate full cavities!!! They just had a really nice feel to them and came of like a rocket when you hit them dead center!

Still I would not buy them because they still don't have the forged feel, even though they are soft. They also launch way to high for me, but these are great irons for a higher handicap!

Not hit them but they are sweet looking irons considering they are GI.

If he is looking for accuracy get him to try them as they may not be for him, but I would also tell him to try the Ping G15's and TM Burner 09.

The Nike's are the cheapest of the bunch though and come in at £349 4-PW on Americangolf.co.uk

Ping G10's are £399 4-SW as well, these I can back up as I used these as a beginner for 2 years, if you want accurate they don't come much more straight than these even when hit off centrer.

I play the VR full forged irons right now. I like them a whole lot, but if I had to do all over again I think I would go for the split-cavity irons. The trajectory is very high, but they're a solid set of irons.

there was only an old demo 7i left in the store but he's striking it well. thanks for the links, if he can't get them at a store he might buy them off that site.

A store near me can still order G5's so yeah they should be able to order G10's.

You can still order G10's (even G5's) new from Ping vai an authorised Ping Retailer, your local golf shop should know this if they are a Ping fitting center, if not find one in Ireland that is.

      It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…

      I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
