Two days ago, after a fair bit of putting practice I went out and shot +11. A best ever 9 holes of +3 on the front, followed by a struggle over the last 4 holes (including water) left me +11 through 17 (I parred the last)

Today was almost a similar story.
Shot +4 on the front (with a double from a plugged bunker lie on the 9th)
Started ok on the back nine. Found myself +6 with 4 holes to play.

Cleared the water this time! , but went bogey, double to find myself +9 thru 17.
Short of the green in 2, but a putt I thought I'd missed dropped in the right edge to save par on the last!

Ended up +9 (79) but with a surprising 34 putts! Couldn't believe how many putts I'd had! But then I did have 3x 3 putts today.
I should mention this round wasn't played in competition, therefore wasn't counted toward my official handicap. Neither was the 81 I shot two days ago...

Practice plans for this week:
Full swing/pitching session (GW-6i)
bunker practice (had 2/3 sand saves today - a new best)
2x putting sessions

New bests
+9 for 18
+3 for 9

Recent stroke ave. 83.4

Sounds like someone needs putter help. Haha.

Good job man! Keep practicing! You're doing fantastic! Just think what you would have shot with 26 putts!

lol - putting is actually at the forefront of my practice routine! But yeah, take out the 3 putts = 76. If only no one 3-putted!

    • I assume you are posting 15 or 16 holes and letting the USGA algorithm insert projected scores for the missing holes. How is that going? Are the projected scores reasonable? I have yet to do this.
    • You're right. I haven't really had an issue with this before, but it's definitely worth closing the legs a bit to see what happens. I've had 2 of these and never had this problem before. About 5 years of use between the 2. It's really odd. Yeah, I've always had a bit of inconsistency and misreads, but this is a new level. I did a baseline session last night, and all my of stack speeds had decreased by roughly 5-10 mph (with me throwing out the obvious garbage readings). Weirdly, the driver speed actually seemed to be right where I expected it. I guess maybe it's having trouble with the smaller head of the stack vs. a driver? Whatever it is, I think it's time for me to go with the stack radar.
    • @DeadManI used to use the Swing Speed radar and, in hindsight, it seems very unreliable.  As @iacassaid, it's prone to misplacement, and I'd sometimes get wildly different speeds from swing-to-swing: like a 103mph, followed by 118mph, then a 102mph, then a 114mph.  I didn't know any better at the time and thought that was normal.  I've since upgraded radars and the new speeds seem much more accurate/consistent. Also, Mike Carroll (FFG) used to have the SSR and he now calls it a 'random number generator'.
    • I have it. Works good. As all things electronics, there are analog elements that can 'weaken' like the microwave signal emitting/receiving or the contact between it and conversion module, etc. Might be time for a new one.     P.S. I've had it for a few years. Other than replacing the battery haven't had any periods of wild reads.
