I've seen and read many posts about people buying fake Mizuno clubs. Well I decided to take the chance and try the Russian Roulette of buying a set of Mizuno MP 68s on Ebay. Well everything looks on the up and up but I'm no expert. I've read that there is a serial number or something of the sort to verify authenticity underneath the grips on the original shafts. Now I'm not all gung ho about yanking a grip off the club, especially not knowing what exactly I'm looking for.  Do any of you guys have any suggestions about how to verify authenticity aside from taking it to the local Edwin Watts ?

Mo I'd love to help if I can. I also read the thread that indicated the serial was under the grip. But I posted that my US market items have a serial on the hosel just above the Grain flow Forged legend. The legend is stamped in and very deep also it is paint filled. The serial is very different it is laser etched I'd say and so it is very difficult to see unless you are looking directly at it with the correct light. In that thread I posted photos of my examples. If you are buying US clubs I suggest you get the seller to send you a photo of the serials of the clubs it shouldn't be too hard.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

lol Well the thing is that I've already purchased them and have rec'd them. They do have the set of numbers on the hosel just above the grain flow forged legend that is laser etched. Luckily, those numbers are on all the clubs. I tried searching for the thread that you posted photos in but was not successful in finding it.

That is great news, the first part that is.

You got the clubs and with a fully serialed set they are very probably legit.

Now the fun has started I hope and you are enjoying them?

I went and looked at the post and the photos I posted aren't there. I don't use a photoposting service so

they probably got wiped off the post. No matter I will fix that in the future for posting on this site.

One thing I forgot to ask before posting was if you are in the US, since I think the OP with the serials on the shafts was

UK based.  lI don't think anyone ever got around to asking how a MFG would manage a program where the replaceable shafts

had the serials and not the clubheads but that discussion is over now so I won't ask either.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I am a victim of purchasing a fake set of MP 68 irons from a so cold pro named Kermit Olson from EGA & Azimuth golf, LLC in Orange County. He told me it was an extra set that was given to him. he also told me that it was authentic.. i was stupid to have beleived him and not even check on the serial number. the serial number for MP 68 can be found in the hosel  like what Road dog said..

The funny thing is all the while i was playing and hitting great shots with a fake set of MP 68's.
