great game last night. way to go canucks.

Great effort by both teams... unfortunately the phantom calls (penalties) in the second period kept the game from being great. The Stars never recovered from the 5 on 3. Without the phantom calls that game all the making of a mutli overtime on the edge of your seat cliff hanger.

WDFN (1130) was so cocky last week after the game 3 loss... I think if this series went 7 games it would have been total panic on the talk shows today (specially, Stoney and Wojo's show).

Stoney and Wojo would be going crazy but Sean Bealijian (sp) would be losing his voice all over again. Would have been too funny.

Canucks, Flames, Oilers in that order. Sometimes it's tough work being a Canucks fan but this season was not bad at all.

One thing I think you'll see going forward is the cup will move around more than ever. With salary caps teams will have to take risks with lineups and new acquisitions, and trading will be lively on some of the hot new talent.

Should be good for the game, good for TV viewing.

I was a big Bruins fan for many years and continued put up with all the poor management decisions. Finally I said if they ever get rid of Joe Thornton I am giving up on them. Even so, had they gotten something remotely good in return for him I would have made up some stupid reason to back them on it. A bag of pucks would have been more valuable... absolutely ridiculous, so if Bruins management isn't going to care then neither am I. F Hockey. All because (I think) they didn't want to play Joe Thornton's contract (his contract stated he couldn't be traded unless traded when he was traded). So what do they do? Go out and spend tons of money on Zdeno Chara and Marc Savard. Sure, Chara's a hell of a d-man and Savard is a nice playmaking center but neither are close to Joe Thornton caliber.

exactly the same as me.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
