Friends at TST, i got a great deal on a set of the mentioned irons, fit for me already in barely used condition. i've hit the new Razr Musclebacks and loved em. i got the set for $350 shipped. does anyone here own these irons (or the new musclebacks) that have opinions or reviews to share? i'm incredibly excited about these clubs and thanks to winter i'm stuck with hitting just range balls till my hands bleed over the next 3 months lol share your opinions, i'd love to hear em...how is the playability? how's the length (distance)? they have a buttery feel, can't wait to have em in my bag...

Two versions of the X Prototype:

Original, and NG - new grooves or conforming grooves (those made 2010 and after).

I looked on Calla PreO for pricing, but could only find individual irons. In past site has had a couple of sets of X Proto, but none are available right now.

As of today, individual X Proto irons in very good condition sold for about $75 each.

Irons will have a high Vertical Center of Gravity, which means clubhead would encourage lower trajectory. Assumes successful user would have high clubhead speed.

Check out old Q&A; section on CPO for opinions on X Proto; general theme - single digit HDCP players. You're a 4.5, so give it a shot!

Let us know how it works out.

yea i got em from a guy on ebay...said he played one season with and couldn't hit em. they're the original proto's, not the new ones (razr muscles) i swing xstiff in my current irons (which i hit with a high trajectory anyway, looking to bring down) so hopefully when they get here i'll be goin to town on the range... : )

    • Yes, because you have lifted to like 120° without bending the left elbow. So when you turn and the left elbow bends… it bends in such a way that you then lower your left humerus and pull the club around you.

    • Day 292 6-23 Worked on wrist arching for a bit today and then some low point control.
    • Day 3 (23 Jun 26) - Grandson put in to play this morning when he arrived at the house.  He wanted to play a full 18 from the "purple" tees (these are custom tees that play shorter than our gold but longer than the red) in a best (super) ball duet.  Was a great day working on course management - seeing him play well (for a 10yr old) - for example, hole 12 has a temp green about 100 yds from the tee box, he hits a solid 8i to 4' pin high and nails a birdie putt.  Could have never been prouder.  These are the moments grandfathers dream of - and hopefully the memories he will recall when his day comes to be Paw-paw for his grandson....may the game live on.
