Hi everyone,

I'm new to the game and have been going to the driving range with my friend. I would like to buy a complete set of clubs. I have been doing some research and I think I have narrowed it down to 2 choices: Wilson Men's Ultra Package Golf Set or RAM Men's G-Force Golf Set.

I was told both of these are good for beginners. I am also looking for a reasonably affordable set. So I guess my question is, which set would be better? I'm looking for durability and consistency.

Thanks!

To start, durability and consistency are not adjectives you should use to describe clubs. The word you are probably thinking of is forgivenesss(more forgiving=easier to hit in general). I dont know much about complete sets but i would say the wilsons only based on name.  I along with everyone else on here will recomend that you get custom fitted no matter what your skill level is and those complete sets wont be able to be custom fitted. What is your price range?

Driver:  907 D1 (10.5*)

3 Wood:  Burner Superfast 2.0 (15*)

Hybrid:  Idea Pro Gold (21*)

Irons:  VR Pro Combo CB (3-PW)

Wedges:  VR Pro (52*,56*)

Putter: Method 004

Ball:  Penta

Thanks for the heads up. The only reason why I said durability was that I have broken both my 5 and 6 irons (my friend also have me a really old set of clubs to use - he got the set at a thrift store). Anyways, my price range is no more than $200

You won't be able to get a whole lot for $200, so if you're just starting out and like the looks of the Wilsons, I'd go there, and then later as you get more into the game you can upgrade.  Only downside is if you're really tall or short or swing really fast they may not fit you very well.

3 wood:  Insight

Hybrid:   A4  19 degree

Irons:   CG red 4-PW

Wedges:   CG12  56 degree and CG10 60 degree

Putter:  White Hot XG Sabertooth

If you can go just a little higher....i started learning to play with a set of Maxfli Revolutions.  I got them from Dicks for like $300 last summer, and ive seen them as low online as $250

In my opinion the irons are pretty decent and solid, hybrids are ok...... but i didnt have a ton of luck with the driver and 3 wood, but I am a beginner myself! So........

I had also bought a really cheap set at Target for like $119 as an extra set to have to practice with at my second home and i have to be honest it was a complete waste of money.  Almost unusable.

Good luck!
