I've been Playing Golf for: 2-3 Months

My current handicap index or average score is: 28

My typical ball flight is: Straight/Slice for driver 50/50

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice with Driver

2-3 months impressive

setup ok for a beginner

takeaway ok

top looks ok

the main problem freeze frame at impact

your right side is stuck behind the shot, not yet lifting up with the classic right heel lift at impact

the main thing though

HIPS

you are almost dead square at impact

look at pics of rory and a young tiger right at impact

where are the hips

they're rotated so much their belt buckle is pointed to the target

so lower body and hip turn is the impact issue

but the rest looks marvelous for 2-3 months

you get the lower body right and hips fired at impact

then see where the ball is and how far

then you can tweak any minor stuff at address, ball position, takeaway, top, plane, etc.

your major fault is hips though, not rotated at impact

huge distance leak and yeah, tendancy to push slice or chicken wing and flip weak hooks from that impact zone

Pretty swing though for a 2-3 month player

It looks well developed to me, not 2-3 months old

Thankyou for the reply and advice!

and i'm impressed by you're observation, my dad used to take me round the course at least once every 3-4 months maybe even longer, only recently when he took me up the golf course again had i took a huge liking to the game after hitting some good shots (as being a golfer yourself you will know that feeling after hitting a good shot), and from then i have being going up the course at least 2 days a week now for about 2-3 months till this day as and this is my most recent swing. So you could say it is well developed, but i don't think playing a round once every 4 months is enough to make any progression in such a complex sport.

i will try out some of those tweaks and hopefully they could help my game, but practice makes perfect!
Thanks Again

    • Day 172: mirror work for a while during SNF. Working on cleaning up the early backswing stuff. Definitely seeing the improvements I’m looking for.
    • @jxdama: Same dumb schtick since joining. Yup. Also, it's a par-73.
    • Day 97 - 2025-01-05 Showed up to something that absolutely floored me, and then was busy right through to 9:00. So, I got 5:00 in at night, at home, before bed. My rib cage hurts from a cough (ha ha, but also, f***), and I think I have a mild ear infection in my right ear. Things are just f***ing great.
    • OMG Jerry Barber shot -20 back in 1960! Let's go back and time and bitch about how easy it is to play golf. My goodness, Calvin Pete shot a -21 in 1986! Wait a second, David Duval shot -26 back in 1999! Hold up, Ernie Els shot a -31 back in 2003!!!!  (all scores at The Sentry, it is a very easy golf course for PGA Tour players).  The concept that golf in the past is this protecting par or what not is just romanticized BS. Golfer's have been tearing apart golf courses for decades. Let's have a sense of perspective to base our opinions, ok?
    • I wont  comment further except to say maybe we  can get a  -40 winner soon on these tests  of golf  skill     Hideki Matsuyama runs away with The Sentry, breaks scoring record to open new PGA Tour season Hideki Matsuyama picked up his 11th PGA career win on Sunday afternoon in Hawaii.
