Driver shaft flex

The Ping G15 driver I have with stock stiff shaft is too flex - apparently it's not very stiff, for a stiff shaft. Are the specialist shaft companies shafts much better quality? I'm wondering which choice of shaft to go with with my next driver purchase. I can't afford custom fit.

Aftermarket shafts really arent better.  What you need is to be fit for the RIGHT shaft, not just blow a bunch of money on an expensive aftermarket one.

Fitted properly, an aftermarket shaft will not perform any better than an off the rack one.

I gotta agree with this, you prob need to go and get fitted. If you do go and get fitted they should be able to give you a couple of options based in cost, whether or not you plan on getting any bigger/stronger, what feels good (just because the launch monitor/fitter says that this is the right shaft doesn't mean that it will feel good). I guess what im trying to say is that there isn't only one shaft for your swing, so go and try a couple. Also when you so find the right shaft they to hit it before you walk out, just because the label says that its the right shaft doesn't mean that it is either. The same manufacturer and model isn't even always the same. Good luck :)

Thanks for the advice. Or the trial and error option - buying different clubs/shafts on eBay and selling them if not suitable. Like renting a DVD or something!
