I have to say I find it harder to hit it straight, but not impossible. It's quite easy once you get the hang of it. I'm picking up my copy today.

Great roster, no doubt, I just thought 07 was a much better game.

BTW, PS3 haters go away The console race is a marathon, not a sprint. Remember that in two years when you are buying the XBox 760 Elite Special Edition for $600, and I am still playing my PS3

The PS2 is outselling the PS3. The Wii is outselling the PS3 and the XBox combined (or coming quite close to doing so).

It may be a marathon, but the PS3 has decided to take a nap after mile marker three.

You are right on the PS2 and the Wii, which no offense, but it's not a next gen console. It's fun, for sure, but next gen, not really. Check out the specs. It's basically the GameCube with motion sensing abilities. BUT, it is selling like hotcakes for sure, but I don't see it having the legs, or games, for "gamers". They casual market they have dominanted will dry up eventually. It was one of the best business moves I have witnesses in my life. Nintendo deserves every cent they can suck out of people for their product.

As for the PS3, you may be right, I also owned a Dreamcast But, there is not a game out right now on consoles that can touch Warhawk in multiplayer online, which seems to be the wave of the future. That game is special, and I think shows what Sony is going to bring to the table. Home, LitteBigPlanet, Drakes Fortune could be AAA titles. Notice, no "2" or "3" after those names. Why? Because they are orginal titles, unlike Halo "3" I will give the xBox one thing, well maybe two. It still has the best game ever made, Gears. And BioShock is a great new title for the system. It just seems the FPS genre is a little overcrowed on the xBox, with not much new or different(Viva Pinata is about it, right?) To each their own, though. Enjoy the 360!!!!!!

Specs don't make a next-gen console. Well, they do to people who care about specs... I'm past that. I want something to be enjoyable, and with the Wii, it is.

Would I rather it had 1080p graphics and the same gameplay? Sure. But it's next-gen in a different way: it's upgraded the FUN of a console dramatically. Other consoles upgraded their graphics capabilities. Nintendo updated their console's fun capabilities. I'm being little more than half serious here, but I think you get my point. It ain't about specs anymore, and if you want to quote specs, you're missing the point that a game console is about having fun. The sales numbers bear that out (though the Wii's price point no doubt helps). So, yeah, whatever. I'm 29, so my true gaming days are behind me. I'm just looking for things I can play quickly and for 20 minutes at a time these days.

Maybe so, maybe not. I don't personally enjoy the Wii that much. It was fun the first month or so I got it for my girlfriend, but it just sits there now. Specs ARE relevant, and so is fun. But high specs draw the best developers, so saying specs don't really matter is a strech.

it's upgraded the FUN of a console dramatically. Other consoles upgraded their graphics capabilities. Nintendo updated their console's fun capabilities.

Once again, I would disagree. There are three, maybe four titles worth buying right now, and yes the virtual console is cool, but I have a NES for those games. Fun, my forum friend, is in the eye of the beholder

The sales numbers bear that out (though the Wii's price point no doubt helps).

If sales determine the best product on the market, I better get rid of my Apple laptop

. I'm just saying, sales do not equal quality. Suckering a bunch of soccer moms and teenagers into buyign something is good marketing, not a great product.
So, yeah, whatever. I'm 29, so my true gaming days are behind me. I'm just looking for things I can play quickly and for 20 minutes at a time these days.

AHA, my point. You are no longer a "gamer". You may still enjoy video games, but the gamer in you is no longer there. I understad, life, kids, and GOLF can get in the way, but I am glad you said this. It makes your argument understadable. But, I'm 32 and still game 20+ hours a week. I have no kids, no family close by, and LONG cold winters in Indiana.

Specs don't draw developers. In fact, high specs push developers away because the cost of development increases.

Console sales draw developers. Basic economics 101 mixed with a little "follow the money" common sense.
If sales determine the best product on the market, I better get rid of my Apple laptop

I'm an Apple developer, used to work for Apple, the whole nine yards. Apple sells more computers than almost every other computer manufacturer. It's the OS that has a smaller market share. With consoles, of course, each has their own OS. You're not comparing apples to, well, Apples here.

I'm just saying, sales do not equal quality.

I never said they did. Sales do, however, indicate what consumers deem worthy of purchase, which is about the only subjective way of measuring quality that we've got.

AHA, my point. You are no longer a "gamer".

Not really, but I used to be editor of a multi-million dollar video game network of websites, so I've got some background on the industry. The fact that I'm no longer a hard-core gamer doesn't change my position or the points I've made.

And I believe with a lot of confidence, backed by industry experience and some common sense, that you're wrong. Whoopty doo.

Gee, where'd that get us? Nowhere... which is another of my points. Who cares? Go play your PS3. Again, your enjoyment of it shouldn't be changed by sales numbers or what someone else thinks. P.S. I'm not mad. Quite the opposite.

Groundbreaking, that one. Mario 64 blew so many people away, and I still think Goldeneye is one of the best games ever made.

The ultimate combo for me: Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PS2. A nice gaming PC would be great but they are just too expensive these days...

I was looking forward to the PS3 so much I sold my PS2...then I ended up buying a new slim PS2 because the PS3 has been a huge disappointment and all of my favorite games are coming to the 360 now anyway.

Not a Metal Gear, Tekken, or Hot Shots fan;)

I love the 360 as well, BioShock will be game of the year, but don't count out the PS3 yet, it's still gotta couple bullets left to shoot(LittleBigPlanet/Drakes/Heavenly Sword(maybe)). And if you get a chance, check out Warhawk online. If you remotely love Call of Duty/Metal of Honor type games, it's AAA.

Metal Gear is O.K. but I'm kind of sick of them. Plus I think it will come to 360 anyway (and I probably still won't buy it, maybe rent). I've never liked Tekken. I'm sad to miss Hot Shots, but Fore! has so much content on PS2 I really don't care (and can still be played online).

Little Big Planet looks great but I have no interested in Warhawk, Drake, or Heavenly Sword. I'm in the Call of Duty 4 beta right now (only the 360 version gets the beta) and it is FANTASTIC. I miss very few things by not having a PS3, and save $500+. I'm not saying it doesn't have its games but it doesn't justify the price in my eyes. For just a little bit more I can have a 360 and Wii and miss out on what...maybe one game that I want for PS3. And Blu-ray doesn't do it for me. I have a 52" HDTV but I find 720p to be more than enough (the 360 HD-DVD player) and I also prefer HD-DVD as a format on the whole. Either way I still haven't even purchased the 360 HD-DVD player so I guess that shows how much I care. I still rent DVDs (Netflix) and they look fantastic.

    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
