I saw only a few moments of the final hole of recent Senior Tour Ace Tourney but did see  CMontgomerie play ball he had just hit over water and obviously onto/into/next to the stands behind the green.  Monty was about the play the next shot and TV guy said 'Monty got relief from the Drop zone', which was only 3 feet away, near the stands, and marked with white line.

If TV guy correct, Colin's ball had laid in the Drop zone next to the Temp Immov Obstruction and Colin wanted relief and he got it.  Why would a ball in the Drop Zone get relief ?  Abundant divots, thus GUR, is the only reason i can think of but i also know the rules do not consider divots abnormal ground.

Could be that Monty's ball was not in the Drop Zone but next to the stands, near the Drop Zone, and Monty did get relief from the stands.  Result,  poor TV commentary offering us incorrect information.  Might have been only guesswork by TV guys needing to blab.

The only commentator that seems to know something about the rules is Jerry Foltz. When you hear one of them refer to the person with whom a player is drawn as a "Playing Partner," or "Playing Competitor" which most of them do, you know their rules knowledge is minimal. The U.S. open telecasts are great because they have a rules person in the broadcast booth.

    • Day 135: worked on putting bead for a while with the 2 cups drill.
    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.
    • First time playing this game, Spanish is my native language. It was impossible for me. After 4 worlds I run out of worlds that have the letters I've already found that can be combined with the remaining letters.. just repeated the 4th world to knew the answer. I know the world but it never came to my mind.
