I just purchased one of these because it was on a really good sale (I guess they're coming out the the Band 3's soon?) and had a $20 reward certificate to Best Buy that was expiring in August. Since I hardly ever buy anything from Best Buy I figured what the hay, I'll give it a shot. So I got this thing for $80.

It appears to function like some of the other standalone wrist GPS devices where you can track your score, and see front-center-back yardages. I currently use the GolfPad GPS app on my phone with a phone caddie holder thing for my push cart. I love it, but in the summer heat my phone gets too hot soaking up all that sun so I've been having to cover it with a towel. I'm hoping this band has a higher temperature tolerance (since it's not running many processes I would think).

I've never been a fan of the whole heart rate tracking, sleep tracking and the oh-so-commonly-talked-about "STEPS TAKEN." But it will be interesting to see what those stats come back at with having walked a round of golf.

So do any of y'all have this device? I usually spend more time researching things like this but the deal was pretty good and selling out fast and I had a BB coupon I knew would go to waste if I didn't buy this - being a tech nut myself I figured I'd make the impulse buy.

If you have this device it would be very good to hear your thoughts, specifically on the golf stuff (or anything else I guess). The app is through Taylormade so I imagine it's halfway decent? Does the automatic shot tracking work pretty good? Is it easy to keep your score correct (although I always fill in my score at the end of a round lol)? Is the GPS reliable and does it update your location pretty quickly (sometimes my GolfPad takes like 15+ seconds to lock in on my location which doesn't seem like much but if I'm getting a yardage then I don't have a club out of the bag yet and it can slow down play sometimes).

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
