Hey! Going to Bandon Dunes during early October, and I've been reading a lot about the weather, courses, etc. However, one of the main things that I am concerned with is walking 36 holes a day for 4 straight days. Do you guys have any special recommendations regarding which shoes would be the most appropriate for such long walks? How many pairs should i take with me?

Thanks in advance!

We went to Bandon in November last year and basically ran out of daylight to get 36 holes in. Old Mac and Trails are both very long. So we played Bandon Preserve and Shorty's a couple of times after or before the main course that day. BP is an absolute cracker. So there are plenty of options. If the weather is bad you wont want to play 36 anyhow but good luck trying. Dont forget to try for the Sheep Ranch where you can play all day for $100 I think it was, although there are rumours its closed. You 'll have a great time whatever you do..

Oops... re shoes, nothing better than regular Footjoys will be necessary.

I agree that the Preserve is a great short course option - some of the best views on the property! October can be beautiful, and rarely really cold, but be sure to layer with good rain gear just in case, and extra socks, and shoes you have worn for a while and like. Another option if walking is too much is to go about ten miles south to Bandon Crossings, where they have carts. It's one of those "Hidden Gems" GolfLinks mentioned recently.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
