On a big Neko Case kick right now. Mainly I'll listen to anything once. Lately I've been hunting for pre-1978 country and bluegrass vinyl. I loves me some banjo.

Oh Man, I love Neko Case.

Do you listen to the New Pornographers as well? Or just her solo country(ish) material?

Mainly her alt-country solo stuff. NP is a little too poppy for me. If you haven't listened to her in either The Corn Sisters or Maow, check that out. TCS is kinda like fast country, pretty decent. Maow is more of an Alt Grrl Punk. Both are really good.

I haven't heard either of those. Thanks, will check them out. If you haven't heard the last two NP albums, you should check them out. Twin Cinema and Challengers are both excellent discs - but, yeah - they are on the power pop/rock end of the spectrum.

If you can't find anything by either group (they only had 1 album each as far as I know), PM me and I'll see what I can do.

I loves me some banjo.

Have you heard the Robert Plant & Alison Krauss? It's REALLY good.

There's a special on CMT and they do Black Dog with a Banjo doing the main riff!

Yeah it's alright. I'm more a fan of classic bluegrass from the 40s-60s though. Guys like Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatt, Snuffy Jenkins, Jimmy Martin, Earl Taylor, the Stanley Brothers, etc.

I hear ya. I'd add John Hartford to that list. although he'd be next generation to those you listed. Probably the most melodic Banjo player I'be heard. Mark Twang is one of my favorite LP's in my collection.

I love this album. When I first heard it announced, I was like, "WTF?" but their voices are absolutely beautiful together.

I think they are touring together right now... and on a related note, it's sounding more and more like the reunited Zep is going to tour! Man, that is something I've waited a lifetime for...

I know his son is supposedly awesome on the kit, but it's just not the same with John Bonham behind the skins and tins.

Haha, yeah I had a brain fart there for a moment. The second I hit submit, I realized what I did. Durrr.

Since I never saw the original lineup - Bonham Jr. will do just fine for me

I never saw The Who with Moon or Entwistle, either but when they played the Gorge in the summer of 2001 it was an amazing show!

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
