    Q School

I wish I had enough game to be at Q school this week. The pressure must be big for potential PGA freshman. I can dream.
  3. Welcome!
  4. Ha! Yep.
  5. I had a great amber in Portland, OR a while back. Man I wish I could remember what it was called. It was in this great little pub with vines covering the front. In fact we got two free pints and free pizza that night. Ah the beauty of it!
  6. Here's a story for you... Leavenworth Golf Club in Washington State was a fun play last summer with three of my buddies. The first hole is one of those drive off a cliff and watch it fly holes. We played 9 holes our first day there because we didn't have time for more. I had the low score of the day but it wasn't pretty. I think I hit three trees and each time my ball ended up in the middle of the fairway. I'll take a win however I get it.
  7. I was over at a local golf shop and putted around with the Red X for a while. Alignment was a cinch. I really like that club. I don't, however, like the $250+ price tag. I suppose that would be on my wish list too.
  8. Here's what I'd like in my bag: Mizuno MX-23 irons Rossa Mezza Monza putter (center shaft) There are a few more items I'll add later. What about you?
  9. I play a couple of courses in the Olympia area. The Links at Hawks Prairie is one of them. The links course is very nice, I have yet to play what they call "The Woodlands at Hawks Prairie." There is another course up the road at the Army Base called Fort Lewis that I've played a few times. I stay away becuase it is higher priced for civilians and there is a very dissagreeable little gremlin that works the counter. I have yet to see him smile (maybe he should watch me hit my 3 wood). He crawls out of a hole every morning to collect greens fees. Most weeks I'm down at Nisqually Valley Golf Course. $10 for 18 holes after 12 noon. It's not as big or as well groomed as some of the other courses around here, but the atmosphere fits me better and the price is right. I play one of the bigger courses about once a month.
  10. I think these clubs are made by Hippo but they are known simply as JD 500. Thats John Daly. They were on sale at Big 5 sports this summer. I bought them so I wouldn't have to use my father-in-laws mis-matched set anymore.
  11. What a trip! My wife's folks live in Sedro Wooley (just north of Mt. Vernon). I'd would have golfed Avalon GC (in Burlington) last Friday but I was sick over Thanksgiving weekend. It was brutal laying in bed when I could have been out on the course.
  12. Sign me up Aaron. I can shank with the best of them. Let me know when you show up and we'll go hack around.
  13. As a new golfer I'm not offering anyone advice. I was having a "right-right" problem for a long time. In other words, I left the face open so the ball started right and then it sliced further still. At least you start out on a strait path. I worked on an inside to out swing path for a long time and then one day after reading a bit of Nicklaus' book "Golf My Way" opted for a grip that set the back of my left wrist facing the target (I believe). I don't understand why, but that straitened me out right away. Last time I went golfing I felt more confident about my driving than the rest of my game. Go figure. Maybe I squared the face of the driver in the process (obviously did). The other thing I did prior to the grip change was to swing much easier. I've taken a lot of heat off my swing and I'm getting better results and hitting it further I'd say.
  14. Hey folks, I recently moved to Washington state from over twenty years in Ketchikan, Alaska. Needless to say, the last six months have been the first time I've been able to play consistently ever. I am really enjoying myself (most the time) and seeing my score slowly creep down out of the cloud range. Many thanks to "thesandtrap.com" crowd for hosting their blog and this new forum. I look foreword to interacting with many of you. Jeff Feel free to call me muskegman. Muskeg is a spongy moss that covers the ground where I used to live. That's where I got the name.
