  1. I was wondering myself if Trump was just hyping his course with the claims he makes against Pine Valley, thanks for some first hand knowledge. Trump's overbearing ways as a control freak just about make it too much for me to even watch his show on TGC. I have gotten where I can't hardly stand him. I am from the South and have lived here all my life. Trump would not be able to pull off another Augusta National because he lacks something he cannot buy : Being part of the "good ole boy" network of the south!
  2. I personally would listen to a greenskeeper about ball mark repair over a PGA pro at a course. No matter which course. I also think that all courses should have a poster with the proper way to repair a ball mark. The Scotty Cameron tool is called the Pivot Tool. The proper way to repair is not to "pivot" the tool and raise the center of mark. Still the Cameron tool works well if used in the proper way.

  4. I wear shorts playing golf during warm weather myself. On the other hand, I think the PGA players should not wear them. I used to think differently until I saw a few episodes of "Playing Lessons from the Pros", and some of them were wearing shorts. I believe one of them was Anthony Kim. Just seemed to look bush league.
  5. I'm really liking this thread!
  6. A guy I know was telling me a story about his buddy, Marshall, one day. I asked didn't Marshall work for the state, to which he replied, "Hell no. He needs to be under the care of the state though!" Well I thought it was funny! I was playing a nice course one day with a friend. We are both careful to follow rules of the course and try to be good stewards of the game. Tim had hit his tee shot to the left of the cart path so we were both looking in that direction as we traveled down the path. After he hit his ball back into the fairway we drive the cart out to my ball. After I hit, a marshall approaches us and asks very nicely for us to get the cart back onto the cart path. We had driven right by some signs that marked "no carts" on this part of the fairway and didn't see them for looking Tim's ball! We were really embarrased! Thank goodness the marshall was understanding. Classy guy.
  7. I just read the GolfTest 2011 in Golf Magazine. The Burner 2.0 were described as having "optimal gapping" of 12 yards between clubs. Plasma, have you noticed pretty even gapping in your yardage such as this? I am thinking about some new irons myself. I have been leaning toward Miz JPX 800's but the Burner's sound interesting too.
  8. I live a fair ways distance from the nearest golf store of any quality. Dick's Sporting Goods not to far away, but they take several days to do anything! I started out putting a new grip on my putter, just to see if I could do it. It went well so I ventured out a little. Figured I would re-grip my brother's clubs for Christmas, and that went really well! I will be re-gripping my irons now without any hesitation. It's a pretty good way to pass a cold, rainy, golfless Saturday!
  9. The Sandhills area which includes the towns of Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Sanford, etc. Some of the courses are Pine Needles, Pinehurst, Tobacco Road and the Pit.
  10. Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! I have been a member for a few weeks but for some reason couldn't start a thread. Maybe the new format is allowing it, now. I am not a very good golfer but I am addicted! It just takes 1 good hole or even 1 good shot a round to come back for more!
  11. I played today with a married couple who were in their mid-60's. She used to teach school and said she never used cuss words because she didn't want to slip up in the class room. She duffed a shot and said "Ain't that a tutti frutti". Her husband translated : Ain't that a mother fu....
