  1. Wow I can't believe I just won. This is great! I will try to post the pictures of the driver once I get it. Thank you TST!
  2. Does anyone know what clubs Andy Xzang (spelling?) uses. I'm interested to see what a 14 year old uses
  3. So far I would have to think that anyone at 3 or 4 over will have a chance to win the Open. I think Thompson will falter today and fall back to E. The lead today may be -2
  4. Just saw that. AWESOME!!. To bad it was in a tourny round
  5. Lately I have been marking them with five "G's" around the ball. G is my first initial and my favorite number is 5. I use a orange marker as well because I haven't ran into someone else who uses orange.
  6. Webb Simpson - E Steve Stricker - +1 Hunter Mahan - +2
  7. I just laugh when I hit a bad shot. Eases the pain a bit
  8. I think Stricker may have a good shot at this one. You don't need to be too long, but you must be extremely accurate. Of course if Tiger plays his irons like he did at Memorial he also has a good shot.
  9. Just a couple notes on the Sundays round. I was there following the last three groups but mostly the Tiger/Fowler group. At first I thought Fowler had a real chance of winning after the bird at 1. But after the blowup on 3 & 4 it was pretty much over for him. Sad thing is he looked like this too, you could tell that he felt like he was out of it with only playing 5 holes. From there on out Fowler struggled, he said via twiiter that he hit the ball well but the yardages were wrong. I may agree with this at some point but when he missed the green he never got up and down. I personally do not like Sab and that cowboy and his arrogant hate so I was glad to see him lose it. The course following of Rickie and Tiger was amazing to see. My course strategy was to get up the greens to see Tiger hit is approach shots and putt. Since the course is a 2nd shot course it was pointless to see him hit 3-wood in the middle of the fairway all day. Fortunately for me it seemed liked everyone else wanted to see his tee shot. The roars that came from this group were crazy, I have never heard anything like it in golf. To get to last 3 holes. My buddy and I wanted to see 18 since we thought it would come down to 18. So after we saw Tigers tee shot on 16 which hit so hard, I couldn't believe it ended up where it did since he hit 8 iron. That green really dried out. Anyway after that we looked at each other and said "par at best" so we sprinted (more of a brisk walk) to 18 where the absolute closest spot we could find was 100 yards out just past the fairway bunker. Once we settled in we heard the loudest roar of the day. This could have been heard from hole #3 which is at the complete opposite end. We knew that Tiger just chipped in for birdie from an impossible line. After that the rest was history and the bird on 18 was just to rub it in Sabs face :). Best Memorial I have been to so far.
  10. Tiger shot on 4 is the closest of the day 4'4". Made the putt center cup. Really playing well so far
  11. I'm a little surprised about the way the fans are acting. I know in previous years they did not allow cell phones in during tournament rounds. One thing that may have contributed to the unsettled crowds is that Fowler was in that group. With Fowler there are so many little kids (boys and girls) that want to see him. Most of the time these younger kids (8-15yrs) have a hard time sitting still. I was up there for Weds practice round and have never seen more Puma clothes and flat billed hats in my life. I will be going back up Sunday and if Rickie is in contention its going to be crazy for his group. IMO I think the Marshalls should just throw these people out who are causing a disturbance. The Memorial has designated phone areas where patrons can go if they need to make a call. If people can't follow a simple rule like that then just throw them out.
  12. Yea and it a great course. Some of the best greens in the city and that with alot of top-notch private courses
  13. OK quick update. Looks like play got started with no delay. Stenson and Barnes have come out to low rounds to start off early, -3 and -2 thru 6
  14. Here in Cincinnati, 90 miles away from the course it rained all night and is still spitting a bit in the morning. Haven't heard anything about the weather or course but the rain did come.
  15. 1) Does your home course ever get "old" or boring? Not really. There are days where I might play only irons or 3 woods off the tee. Other days I will play from a different set of tees. But generally I do not get bored because you won't play the same hole the exact same way everytime. The pin might change or your drive may be in a different spot. 2) How often do you play a different local course? Maybe once every 2 months. I have a very limited budget (I'm in grad school) so I try to only play other courses if I get on free or have a discount. 3) Do my concerns seem unreasonable? Not at all I know alot of guys who like to play a different course every week, others like to have the availibility to play whenever they want to. IMO. My membership is something that you can turn down. For $475 I get green fees for 7 days a week anytime, for TWO years. Here is the scorecard for my home course
  16. I don't walk in other people lines just out of respect but when I see one of my playing partners go out of their way to avoid my line I just tell them "don't worry about my line its not going to affect it" To this day I have not had a putt that missed because someone walked in my line.
  17. I will be curious to see how the course looks and plays tomorrow after the big storms roll in. It might soften up the greens some. Heard alot of the players say that some of the greens were hard to hold. With 35 guys within 5 shots of the lead its going to be close up until Sunday. Rory could have been right up there in the mix without that 7 same as Tiger too. I think those two are the guys to be watching to make a mini-comeback. 18 has been the toughest hole I believe. Adam Scott, Robert Garrigus, Tiger, Luke, Ben Crane, Mike Weir all double bogeyed the 18th
  18. I'm on the fence about a stricter dress code. I have played with guys who play in jeans and a t-shirt who shoot under par and have better etiquette than the guys who dress like Fowler, Tiger, and Woods. Personally I don't care as long as they are respectable of the course
  19. That picture above is not the 18th hole. This is an excerpt from the Memorials website. "An inviting downhill drive to an ample fairway. But bunkers threaten at the corner of the dogleg to the right, and a long drive hit too far left can find the creek threading the tree line or can be blocked by a cluster of black walnuts short of the green. The approach is uphill across a swale to a large two-tiered and heavily contoured green bunkered front left, front right, left and rear right. A spectacular finishing hole capable of accommodating more than 20,000" Here is a pic from the fairway looking towards the tee box. There is a small creek that is to the right of the picture which really shoudn't come into play.
  20. No water at all. Dog leg right, second shot is up the hill to a semi blind very angular green.
  21. And I just saw him play that hole beautifully yesterday. Making an easy birdie (middle fairway, spinning the approach back to 2 feet, tap in)
  22. Just got back from the course today for wednesday practice round. Course looks great. Someof my favorite spots are the par 3 12th sitting on the hill looking into to green. And at any of the par 5 at the second shot, great risk and reward at all of them. Saw alot of guys go for it during the practice round today. I'm going back up for Sundays round. Scored some clubhouse tickets. Can't wait to see who it comes down to down the stretch. I will try to get some of the pics I took today up tomorrow
  23. Had another rollercoaster round. Shot +7 79. Started with five consecutive 4's then triple bogeyed, double bogeyed, birdie, par for a front +4 40. Then on the back I made eagle with a couple more bogeys and par Just one of those days where you wish you could eliminate the big mistakes and make a personal low. But thats golf
  24. A left handed hybrid. I'm right handed and use my hybrid for a variety of shots around the green, low punch from 150, and the normal. I would love to have a left handed one for those just in case scenarios. I was actually in one of those over the weekend and thought about how nice it would be to have a left handed club.
