Background... I was a 5 Hdcp a few years ago and hurt my neck. I haven't played any in two years. I hit some balls this past week and feel I may be ready. I played Mizuno MP32's for a long time. I played approx 5 times per week. I feel that my iron game is about average. Long story short.... I sold the MP32's and am looking for a new set. I am thinking a mild game improvement club. What would be the best sets to check out? $400 range used or new.... Forged feel is great, but I'm not stuck on that anymore. Burner 2.0 X20/22..... Tours? ????? I have read a lot of reviews... Distance or how long this type goes will not be a factor in my decision..... I realize everyone is different. I just want to hear some opinions. Thanks, Kevin

Upgrade to TaylorMade Burner SuperFast from R580XD?
kevntri replied to RoundQuest's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Burner Superfast for a low handicapper????? Just because it is long does not mean low handicapper. The G15 is a longer than standard club also. His earlier posts state he hits the driver well. That tells me he may be able to handle the added shaft length. 75% of handicap comes from scoring clubs. The comment on lessons is to help the handicap. The purchase comment is to satisfy the want/need for new equipment that bites all of us........ -

Now with the $50 off...... Get the driver and take a few lessons. It can sometimes help to work on a swing change when you have a new club. (nothing to revert back to) There is no reson to worry about how you would have hit it before the swing upgrade. I am still a work in progress with my SF, but it is not crazy wild because of the shaft length. (working on a slightly weaker grip) I would think golf is not your bread maker, so if you have the cash buy it, get a lesson or two and smash that monster 325. -
I just put on the new duel compound Goodyear Tour traction grips. They have a very good feel. A little softer than GP We will see if they hold up or not. I paid under $2.00 each...... I think a very good deal...... Attachment 2333

take $100 and get some lessons.... Get your swing working correct before making a decision. Find where you need the most work. 280 in the middle..... it's not the driver -
What would Asian model Taylor Made Burners mean? I seen a few pics and they look the same?

I agree... I switched from MP67's to Callaway X20's I like the feel of the forged pure hit when I got it....... But I like the feel of being on the green more % of the time better.....:)

I go the route of a 47* PW and switch up with a 52/58 combo or 52/56/60 if I carry 3 or 4 wedges. My distances are 125/130 with the PW, 110 with the 52*, 95 with the 56*, 80 with the *58, and 65 with the 60*........ Hope this helps

I finally broke down and bought the Scotty Cameron Squareback putter. I have been looking at it for a LONG time but didn't want to fork over all that cash. I went to ride my motocross bike last week and the body just couldn't take it anymore....so I sold it and rewarded myself with the Scotty. I don't know if it is in my head or what, but this thing sure seems to roll it nice.....

I have only played 3 round this year, but my swing is gone I can't seem to get it together. Driver is all over the place, irons are crisp but not on line.... This is the worst begining I have seen in a long time. Any suggestions on what to work on. I tried just slowing everything down. Doesn't seem to be helping........

Driver Sick: Case of the Shanks
kevntri replied to lhshurdl3r's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I agree.... Never seen a shanked driver repeated. A shank comes from the ball hitting the round part of the hosel. Not real possible with the driver. My suggestion would be get to the range. Start with comfortable irons and work up to the driver. Start the driver with 1/2 to 3/4 swings very easy. Just try to hit it solid. Then move to very easy full swings. Remember to take the club back with the large muscles in your back (not arms). Lay a club down about a foot outside of the ball in the swing path of the club. Angle it about 5 -10 degrees to the outside.(making a line to follow with the head of the club). Work on the back muscles taking it away and follow the swing path. Finish high on the follow through. A lot of times the outside to inside swing can be fixed if you really work on finishing the swing up high and not like a baseball bat. Good luck........ -

Little disappointed in Callaway preowned
kevntri replied to kevntri's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am now done with dealing with Callaway preowned on this order... I took the set in question to the range for the first time. They seemed very upright. I had them checked and the standard set I ordered was 2* up on the 3-7 and the 8-pw were approx 2.5* up. Remember I traded in my X-forged. They said they do not have anymore sets of the X18 pro's in my condition and I could pay the difference or take a lower grade with a credit. (no other options) I said I will call back. I called and was going to ask for a manager and this new customer service rep said he would send a call tag and they would bend them and send them back Should take two weeks or so.............. I just took them to my shop $30.00 done What a disapointment with this order -
Can't figure out a game-improvement iron
kevntri replied to SwinginCaveman's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just did the same thing. I bought X18 pro's from Callaway preowned for a good price...... May want to look there. The X18 pro. x20 tours, or X22 tours will fit the bill -

I bounce also. Last year was between 4.9 and 7.8. Finished the year at 6.6. I would like to consistantly keep it under 5 this year. We get a printed card monthly. My goal is 2.5 on may card. (lowest so far is 3.8 two years ago)

Little disappointed in Callaway preowned
kevntri replied to kevntri's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am over it now. They refunded my shipping $ (I am not real sure why?) I too thought they would send a call tag and send out a new set. I still think I received the bottom grade clubs. Shaft bands peeling...no problem Ferrels rising up....OK Big 'O nick in the toe of the 5 iron.....
