The Official 2010-11 NHL Hockey Talk Thread!
Phil Ben Graeme replied to BostonSully's topic in Sports
I agree also of Potential upsets.Flyers will Push the Sabres around out muscle them and Versteeg is playoff Beast. The Upset I see is Blackhawks over Canucks. If so then the Luongo era is deemed a Failure. Also The Preds could make a run this year , 33 goals in there last 10 games scoring has been a weak point ,maybe they found something. Solid Dmen and Rinne is making a run at the Vezina -

Reason for Hogan's foot setup?
Phil Ben Graeme replied to ASUslacker's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
On page 45 lesson 2 ,stance and posture section, the diagram of the incorrect stance explaining right foot at a 45 or so degree angle will cause errors.Yet Hogan at address with a driver at the 1967 masters practice narrated by Clem darracott explains and shows hogan moving his " right foot backwards from the target line and moves his toe of his right foot to the right away from the target this accommodates a wider and fuller hip turn to generate more power" -

True both are nasty but i guess that still pictures from certain angles and slow motion can have Chars hit seem worse. The hit along any other place along the boards around the rink would fine so I guess its the Stanchion is an rink issue. -

Cheap shots in Hockey are defined as an Elbow to the head,Spearing,Knee to Knee or checking from behind. That hit from Max on Sutton nothing compared to Chara..Ask Travis Roy who just fell head first into the boards -

Last year alone from June to September ,2 or 3 days a week, large bucket or if i feel like it 2 large in one day of 110 golf balls. The range had a discount if you buy a certain amount of buckets and the owner would allow me free buckets that some golfers didn't finish, so everything even out with the money term "you get what you pay for".I would say I hit a total of 10,000 in last two years. After work 2 times a week I walk to a field behind my condo, to develop my my short game for a hour or so.This year finally going to hit the Golf courses.

Ideas and thoughts on Driver and shaft
Phil Ben Graeme replied to Phil Ben Graeme's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
None taken. Reviews for Maxfli drivers have been favorable and some say for the price it holds up on its own compared to 300 dollar driver. What made me think twice is it the club-head or the shaft. The cons with this driver it wears out quick.the club-head face that is.I have Maxfli iron set low and be hold The Hybrid Irons 4 and 5 Pro force v2 UST shaft The driver if i recall has the same color pattern as my iron hybrids.Trial and Error though is the way to go I agree.I be at golf simulator tomorrow maybe they will have 2011 driver demos available -

Ideas and thoughts on Driver and shaft
Phil Ben Graeme replied to Phil Ben Graeme's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Don't get me wrong ,I trying to find out what Characteristics to look for in a shaft.I used Rory as example because trying to figure out does his high torque specs on a shaft of driver add some speed to your swing through impact. What does torque do for a shaft,I will end up googling anyways and what length should get and so forth Also I am trying get much information I can Through you tube and forums like this.I am going to get fitted no doubt -
1-Never Owned a golf Driver the ones I used were that of the Small club drivers of the 1980 ?.steel shafts ..at the range 2-Well I was fortunate to get a few swings at golf shop that has 2 golf simulator stations For free.Mentioned the looking for a driver gave me a driver to test ..Swing speed was averaged out 99 mph 7 swings dint bother to look at What type of driver club head or shaft 3- gave me a brief update said 9.5 degree loft stiff to regular flex.It wasn't really a club fitting type of session but it was for free. Learning on the fly here as I speak.A Lot of you tube learning 1- bigger head 460cc more drag were does the compensation come from is the shaft? 2-should I look for a shaft that has more torque.Mcllroy uses a ROMBAX 7VO5 SHAFT.X flex specs say 46length 70g 3.6 torque. Titleist 910d2 reason i example Mcllroy because of his Height and weight I am around his parameters. So body type must come into play also. Thanks in advance who ever replies

besides the Obvious, questions 1-Is a driver worth the money 2-can you construct a 3 wood with the right shaft to get it where you can tee off and drive it 250 -270 yds 3-Using Science, is it possible because of 460 cc club heads it causes a lot of drag mind you I am learning about golf equipment on the fly.I never owned a driver because I been working on the fundamentals of golf and developing my swing. The only driver I used to practice are the ones the driving ranges offer.I am able off the tee at a driving range with the old drivers with the small club head and steel shaft that I have become a custom to, I average 230-to 240 yds I was just blown away by Els using 3 wood a why he wouldn't use it all time and what was the thought process behind his decision I am ready now to purchase a driver but I am not on tour and I want respectable distance. My thoughts more bang for your buck.Leaning towards a Titleist 909 d2 440 cc club head so it wont look as alien with me.

Increasing club-head speed - suggestions
Phil Ben Graeme replied to squaddie's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Hi As a Hogan Disciple myself There are his techniques that work me and some that didn't. Grip--?--- do you use the short thumb method ? I changed to the long thumb the Reasons are comfort, able to control the club at the backswing through practice. Noticed it generated more of a cupped wrist. This help me to produce torque through the impact zone if everthing else was in order. But like I said in so many words everybody's different and not a teacher but its little nuances that I experience through practice.
