Which of these would you get and why?
sandtrap replied to tws1098's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Make sure you try different shafts with the different heads. The MP-52's are more forging with a softer shaft -
Well. I, didn't do anything to it. JP Moore did, I only know the name because it was stamped in the face, and I was dumb enough to buy it thinking the Custom shop would turn it into a wall hanger. The answer I got was that the after market work would have caused the milling to remove the cameron logo and thats a no go. I'm sure it also has something to do with the final weight but it will probably never get used so who cares. The strict 33" 350 gram, 34" 340 gram, 35" 330 gram that is mandated seems to be a little over the top. If you want and are willing to pay for something you should get it. Perhaps a note , Your request goes against our normal recommendations of weight to legnth ratio, would you like us to proceed with your order? As for Slighters cost $225, for what ends up being a hand made. I gave him Carte blanc to do whatever he wanted and I'm very happy. The Cameron shop does great work if it falls under the put it back to normal catagory. And hard to believe cheaper

I sent two putters to the Cameron custom shot and they returned them to me as too beat to work on and maintain the Titileist integrity. I then sent them to Tom Slighter at Slighter golf in Washington. Great guy, high end, in his work and in his approach to making you happy. Check out the before and after pictures. I'm truly impressed. One of a kind Slighter Cameron

Black shoes or white shoes?
sandtrap replied to Nick77's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Do you only have one golf shirt? it's a package deal, look the part. Besides they all last longer if you rotate the usage. If you still have the shoes that you took the metal spikes out of it's time to get a new pair. Just sayin. -
Worried about perception & Scotty putters
sandtrap replied to hipcheck4u's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Do it, just having something that you love in your hand will make you feel better and then you will perform better. yes there are "cheaper" putters that will put the ball in the hole but do you want something cheap or do you want a Scotty? -
check out tgw.com they have a bunch on clearance

You need to have many pairs in case you get a "hole in one" -
Who let my wife on here? Bring up something I said 6 months ago? A collection of scotty cameron putters with collectable scotty cameron covers in my office is hardly the same as little wet suits for your irons You deserve your little iron condoms. And for the rest of you I'm willing to bet Tiger no longer drives a Buick. Hell I'd drive one for free.

under pressure you will always revert to your natural swing so "get the equipment to adjust to my swing"

Hate my new grips; what to do?
sandtrap replied to tampabay1414's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
They sell a grip remover that is a long blade with a T handle. Put your shaft in a in a vice, using the rubber vice clamp, pry up the edge of the grip, Squirt some solvent under and slide the blade down twist it around and the grip slides off pretty easy after the first one -
Why buy expensive golf shoes?
sandtrap replied to svchiefs19's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If you are walking you just need a good fit and The only real reason to wear golf shoes is the waterproof element and the styling. traction not so much. -
whats the most you've paid for a putter??
sandtrap replied to kekoa's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've got 130 putters, more putters than sense. Paid over $400 for several but if you want to see crazy go on cameroncollector.com. $1000plus is everyday -
iron covers are just plain wrong, now if you drive a Buick and where socks with your sandals then by all means use those head covers. They slow down play get lost and show that you are way too anal for your own good. let the sun sparkle off of those chrome babies and enjoy your round

Scotty Cameron putter - shortening the shaft?
sandtrap replied to apex53's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Go ahead and cut it. If you don't like it put a plug init. Another thing I do besides lead tape on the sole is to put lead tape lead tape under the grip. The golf pride guy gave me this tip. Remove the grip, wind 6" or so of the lead tape then put the double sided grip tape over the lead tape and slide the new grip on. -
Clubmaking - What's the point?
sandtrap replied to Range King's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You will then need... Epoxy (strongly recommend club fitting epoxy) Lamp oil WD40 Double sided tape granulated sugar OK I'll bite, what's the lamp oil, WD, and sugar used for? Grip solvent? -

How old are the clubs? If they have the Buble shafts I don't think DG S300 will fit. Pulling graphite shafts is tricky. If you twist them they get destroyed. You will need a shaft puller. They push the head off while you heat the head. I'm a believer in spineing your shafts. Once you do it you will understand. rubber shaft holder, vice, shafting epoxy, hack saw, torch or heat gun, grip tape and solvent. ebay shaft puller $75 spineing tool $35 -

It doesn't have to be expensive to get into this. You just buy new tools as new projects come up. Chances are you have most of the tools already. A vice a torch or heat gun and a utility knife and you can get started on repairs. As for components, I prefer to buy proline sets slightly used and change the shafts, spine them lengthen and grip. It's pretty easy and most people are afraid of it so you could make some money or just do favors for your friends. Good deals on ebay if you are looking for scales or loft lie bending tools. -
I'll bet they are just going to be hiding their money there after the marxist gets elected
