Feel wise, I dont think you will like the 59's after playing the 64's. Im looking at going that way, away from the Ti muscle. I think my old MX200's felt much nicer. They were some soft feeling clubs. I am a fan of the CB Titleist, but the poster above is right. You might be of more benefit sticking to an iron with forgiveness and soft feel. Im curious about the 54's.. I loved the 53's when I demoed them so I can imagine these are going to be just as good. You really cant go wrong with either. Titleist are really making some great irons. Well, always have.

Duffner, Stricker, Watney (last year) off the top of my head. Even the best need a little help at times. Unless you are a good ball striker and can create good compression, Id stay with the cavity style iron. They are a nice feeling iron. Then its a matter of finding a shaft that has a suitable flex and kick for you.

I tried the 910 against my old Mizuno MP600, same thing, no gain..I am keen to try the 913..

Ok, so one of our local golf chains was running a special on Callaway X Hot drivers. I tried one during a golf outing where Callaway sponsored one of the holes. Tee off with one of their drivers. So I tried the X Hot with the same specs as my current driver. No time to mess around with any kind of fitting process. I liked the feel. I hit one with a bad swing and lost it right, then I popped one. Felt real nice. So I went along with a friend who had purchased one and he was picking it up. I took my current driver, a Diablo Octane Tour 9.5 with PX6.0 shaft. So I hit about 10 balls with the X Hot. The dispersion was horrible and averaged about 265yds and the spin rates were high. Most misses were dead right, Im having issues turning out of the shot at the moment and releasing so Im not too shocked about the ball going right, I'll sort that. I am a right to left player, but my misses are a dead right block right now. That aside, the club felt ok, but I was not worried about the distance at that point, all scopes are different. So then I tee'd up my current driver. Boom...282. High launch low spin, right to left. I did put a good swing on it, but over the next dozen or so shots, my average was 275 (250m, about right in the real world) and the misses right would have just missed the fairway and all in the same spot, so great dispersion results. And the feel, well I just love the thud this driver gives you when you hit that spot high in the face with a closing face. So, the first driver was the Pro at 10.5 which could have explained the spin rates, so I used my friends driver, the X Hot Pro 9.5. The results were similar. Spin down slightly, but no gain over all in distance and dispersion. Strange thing, the flight scope was recommending my driver, the Octane Tour, and it had no way of knowing what I was using. So, exit the X Hot. Enter the Ping i20 I think it was. 3 shots. NAHHH!! Next... Next I tried the RBZ II. The dispersion was ok. Better than the Callaway, but still shorter than my current. I did get one out to 280, but again, most were in the relm of 270. I had high hopes of the TM actually, but I really wanted to try the TP version, but they didnt have one. So, how is it that all this R&D; that has gone into new clubs not be any better (for me at least) than a club that is 2 years old?? Im kinda frustrated. I really want to do the full fitting at Callaway with the available after market shafts, but not at the cost and risk of no improvement. I even feel the 6.0 in my driver feels a little soft for me and I cant feel where the club head is at times, so I have thought about an after market shaft in my current driver, but how on earth do I even pick one? I'll persevere for now but if someone can tell me how I went backwards, I'd love to know. Thanks...

I dont like Williams that much either, but sometimes raw emotion just takes over. He is a passionate caddie, and if you watch the replay, he does have a moment when he thinks, hey, I need to step back and let the golfers shake hands, and he does that quickly. Again, the guy gets up my nose for all kinds of reasons, but in the heat of the moment, he did what he did and congratulated Adam. After all, it is the Masters..

I think when the hopes and dreams of a nation pour out of you when you make the putt to win the Masters is hard to top. You could see the relief and pure joy on Scott's face and in his body language when he made that putt. And I have to say, I felt it too. I'm not at all ashamed to admit that I shed a few tears of raw happiness for Adam, and I was riding the wave with the other Aussies too. I dont think I have ever reacted in that way to a golf game. I was cheering and yelling with every birdie. The one on 18, well someone thought I was being attacked. Its a moment in our sporting history that will be hard to beat. For that, its get my vote. Prior to that, it would have to be Bubba's wedge in the playoff last year.

Technically, he does a lot wrong. It is indeed his tempo that makes it look so easy. His release makes it all look effortless...

So the 913 sounds different to the 910?? I found the 910 to have a pleasant thud, much like my current driver. Again, feel comes down to many things, but it didnt feel like the ball jumped off the face, and felt heavy. It must be me, there are plenty of players using it.

I tried one of these last week. A golfing buddy has one.. Hated it. The sound made my ears ring. Even on flushed shots, it felt terrible. It felt heavy at impact. No thanks...

Sorry, but how do you come to this conclusion?? The model of the club has nothing to do with the alignment of the spine. Shaft manufacturers paint and label the shafts and the club builders simply attach it to the head or adjustable hosel fitting so the label is usually on the underside at address. That shaft you have in your driver off the shelf is a substandard piece of equipment. A sleeve of golf balls is likely to be worth more. Aligning the spine on a shaft like that will likely produce more consistency with even the most inconsistent swing. After market graphite shafts are better, but not perfect. If you have the chance to Pure your graphite shafts, do it. For me, the spining of steel is more about the flex. If you have ever put a shaft in a spine finder and felt how the stiffness varies when you turn it, you will get what I mean. Whether it not it works has been flogged to death over the years. The theory behind it, makes perfect sense, so I Pure my clubs first with a spine finder, then use FLO with a laser. If I am eliminating the variables, then I know I have to work harder to fix other flaws.

Mizuno are not immune to falling into the category I am talking about. In fact, I just hate their JPX825 line, both forged and cast. I also have MX200s, and I removed the decals from the cavity because they bugged me. The 23's and the 25's had a much better look. The 59's border on too fussy for me, but they worked for my game type, so I got those, not knowing the 64's were just around the corner. Doh!!!!

Is it just me, or do other people think that manufacturers are going way over the top with club design when it comes to paint schemes, fancy cavity plates and other lame additions all to catch our attention?? I was in my proshop the other day, and I was looking at some stuff in there and honestly, some of the things wanted to make me puke. What happened to the good old days where clubs had clean lines, shiny chrome and black in fills. Some clubs are just hideous..but thats just my opinion.

All my distances will be in meters, so add 10% for yards. These are the clubs I would use in these distance ranges to the hole, not how far I try hit them. I got some gaps, but I find a way I guess depending on the shot. Driver: 250-265 average (and the odd one that will go another 5-10) 3W 220-230 carry + roll 3H 200 carry, what ever the roll does if I need it off the tee or par 5 approach. 4i 175-180(c) -190 roll 5i 165-175 6i 160-165 7i 145-160 8i 130-140 9i 120-130 PW 105-120 50* anywhere inside 105 54* anywhere inside 90 58* I rarely use this club based on distance. Its about the shot I need. I wont stand 70m out and blast it.

I have a friend who plays of 18. He plays Callaway RaxrX Forged. A players iron. Now, how hits his irons great. Gone from a 26 to 18 handicap, but he cant chip for sh!t. This is where he loses most of his shots..I hate the fact that people put an iron in a handicap category. Its total BS..if you can hit an iron regardless of its nature or your handicap, use it...if you like it, use it. If putting, chipping or driving is costing you shots, fix it. But if you like an iron on the range, use it...even if its designed for a player better than your handicap suggests...

Imagine cracking the sh!ts and slamming it into the ground, then spending your Saturday afternoon cleaning the dirt out of it. Its one big wank. Its uglier than an unplayable lie. I will never go down this road. The right shaft with the right loft is all you need. Good luck fixing your outside in swing with that club..TM, you're a joke and you're banking on all the hackers out there who think that this will fix their game from the tee..pathetic..

Newer drivers will definitely add distance. They dont spend all that money on R&D; to hit the ball the same as there last driver. A mate of mine who plays off +2 upgraded his old Titleist 905 driver to a D3 and he added at least 20m on the carry. He has not problem hitting it 300m, and Im not kidding. So technology will help. I have added about 10-15m overall from my MP600 driver to the Octane Tour I have now. I actually hit it longer on some miss hits than if I flush it out of the middle.

What?? 2 degrees?? Look, I agree that the lofts might not be identical, but I cant see them being give or take 2 degrees. Inconsistent factors?? What, the shaft might not be part of that inconsistency?? Its likely to be most of it. If the spin rates were very different, its likely that the shaft is causing this, not a minor change in loft. I had a mate have his driver replaced by Callaway after it cracked. Same head, same shaft, 2 totally different clubs. Stock shafts are very sensitive when it comes to the positioning of the spine. I have seen so many people buy the latest drivers only to return them because they just cant hit them straight. Every now and then, you get lucky. Disregard the stock versus after market debate at your own peril, but dont do it and trash the comments of professional club makers. They are offering advice, not trying to sell you a lemon.

Did you have the same shaft in all of them?? The shaft is a huge factor when it comes to spin.

We have a kid at our club who has not turned 17 as of yet. He does come from a family of golfers. His mother is off 4 and Im not too sure about his dad, but both are astute golfers. At the end of 2010, he was a double figure handicapper, 11-12 or something, now just 14 months down the track, he is off +1. To me, that is a talent. Talent can not be taught. Talent is a gift. To go from 30+ to single figures, to me, also shouts talent. What you need now is someone to hone it and tighten your game up. It can be very easy for a good golfer to shave shots off his or her handicap every month if they are working on the right things. Hitting hundreds of balls is no good if you are not working on good swing technique. There is another thread doing the rounds about something very similar and I say the same thing. I was always a decent golfer growing up, but I did not have the natural ability to take it further. I worked hard, but it was not enough. You'll know very soon if you have what it takes to go to the next level, and sounds like are on your way. Good luck..

Im not sure if you are referring to me with night shots as I have posted a few, but so have others. Digital and film are no different when it comes to the way you treat night shots. I usually just set the aperture anywhere from f8-f11, sometimes higher if I want a longer exposure, but its really no different. Apart from the obvious part about getting the results right away and making the adjustments..

That approach to the 72nd screamed tightness when he needed soft arms and hands to hit it high and land it soft. Feel bad for the guy, but hopefully this will make him better in the future. The experience of Sneds came through in the end. That put he drained on the playoff hole on 16 was rock solid...
