  1. I agree on that point; first priority nowadays is beyond doubt the short game. But keep in mind that I can train as much as I want to throughout the summer - I have no plans except hanging out with friends, earn some cash every other weekend at the hotel I work and working out. I'm sure that my short game has improved drastically during the next week or so. I am all golf during the summer, and why not improve my short game, while getting a longer drive? I wouldn't swap my golf buddies with anybody, except for the sand trap community of course ( ), but it's just frustrating when you are playing with only one friend, and he picks up his cell phone while you are setting up for the driver - it's like saying "good luck with your drive, buddy, I hope you hit the fairway, because I will not be able to help you to find it in the rough". I don't know how to tell about poor etiquette without creating an unfriendly setting, and therefore have a tendency to just shut up - even though my game and mental state of mind gets affected. I'm probably the least serious guy of us, as I joke around as a fool all the time until someone puts down their bag and start their pre shot routine.
  2. First of all, let me say thanks for both of the replies. They are both giving me different views and things that I will take into consideration. Are the money spent for putting lessons worth it? As I am a student, I don't have the time to play a lot and practice during the semesters, however I use the summer for practice, but I have never bought actual lessons. I really don't know whether or not it's worth it either, as I am a pretty casual golfer. I am beyond doubt the best golfer amongst the ones I play with (I am sorry if it seems like bragging, but it's a fact), and most of my friends show off rather poor etiquette while on the green. They often tend to talk/tell jokes while someone is putting, and therefore, I wonder whether spending money on putting lessons are worth it. Any advice on how to tell them to please be quiet while putting by the way? I find it rather annoying, even though I giggle as I set up to stroke the ball.
  3. Hi, I am considering getting a TaylorMade SuperQuad TP soon. I haven't tried very many newer drivers, and therefore need some help. I have used the SuperQuad for 18 holes back in 2008 or 2009 and I fell in love with it. Since you can get it really cheap nowadays, I am really thinking I should go on and buy one. However, I am wondering whether I would see a significant difference if I rather buy a newer driver, like for instance a 2011 model. I have been using the Nike Sumo2 Sasquatch driver (square driver) and some times a TaylorMade Burner, but I would say I enjoy the SuperQuad more. So, are the differences noticeable with the newer drivers? Is it worth paying 5 times the price of a SuperQuad? I am a single digit handicapper, using stiff shafts on both my irons and my driver. My weakest part of the game is on and around the green. Erlend
  4. Never heard of it. Is it all about sound? I've tried some of those programs, and they haven't impressed me that much...
  5. I am currently bulking up a bit, in order to gain better consistensy and hopefully more power to my driver. So now I eat two portions of whole grain + various seeds during the day. I have to eat this for breakfast, in order to get enough energy to keep me going. I blend the whole grain and seeds with a tbsp of honey and milk. It is really delicious, and I hope to continue eating this meal. Other than that, I stay away from bread. Bread is nothing but a bad alternative for whole grain, no matter how dark the bread looks, it is not good for you, unless it is one of those compact bricks. But who wants to eat that? I also love meat and fish. But as lucky as I am, I do not fancy those unhealthy kinds of meat and fish. I talk about hamburgers, hot dogs and all those fatty and unhealthy kinds of meals. I consider myself lucky that I am so passionate about clean meat. It has lots of good proteins for your body, and the carbs are also of a good type. The fat on the other hand, is bad. But taken into consideration, the fat is in so small portions here, and I don`t get much fat other ways either, so I am not in a position to complain. I also prefer doing some protein shakes. I don`t do them as of now, as I have had vacation, which means only golf and surfing, and no working out. But I am getting my shipment of whey protein and hopefully the shipment of casein tomorrow, so I can complement my excercise with these supplements. Since the end of my vacation, I`ve been exercising twice daily, one before going to work, and one in the evening. And I have to say wow, this really have made progression on my way of playing the game. What was my strong point and advantage before, all of a sudden became my weakness: the putting. I do know that exercising twice daily is hard for your body, and I know the risks that comes with it. Therefore, I eat throughout healthy, and sleep well. To be honest, if you work out twice daily, you sleep like a baby whether you want it or not. Bottom line: Even though this kind of regimen is in order to get "bulky", I still lose fat. Not that there is much to lose on my body, but I had a little under the belly. It gets smaller for every day, and the six pack is getting bigger. I`ve gained a lot of weight, but who cares? It is muscles, and believe me; they don`t do you any harm in any way. If you have the time, and have the will power, you are able to do it.
  6. El Guincho - Kalise I can recommend the whole album
  7. Oh dear, this really struck me. I hope you are getting through this. I noticed that three weeks have passed by by now, how are you holding up? Have you talked to his wife? I hope you do, and by all means that you support her through this if she needs anything. This thread really made me feel bad, I hope he is in a better state of mind and at a better place now. My thoughts to you and his belongings, Erlend
  8. It`s a 877 bucks shocker for me. Thanks, Tiger, if you ever come to Norway, feel free to demand some soft drinks from me. Betting on you is a pleasure.
  9. Even though he has been the best player in the world for so many years, he still keep on impressing me. Seems like he will snatch this competition.
  10. I have to admit I like news from TM. The TP Red appeal to me in every way, and I enjoy it almost as much as the Pro V1x. I will check this one out surely. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. I am still amazed by the Tiger. I placed a bet on him after he shot 70 yesterday. Today he makes 65, I love it... I can`t wait for tomorrow. Who do you guys think will win? I am still rooting for Tiger all the way. You might consider me boring, but I don`t like Harrington that much. He is too unstable.
  12. Wow, that was some nasty mark. I got one on my driver this week. It is not any way near your mark. it is blue/blackish, and pretty much in the sweet spot of my Nike Sumo driver. The thing that confuses me, is the fact that I was hitting a Pro V1x ball with it... I`ll come back with pictures.
  13. Hi, I am currently considering snatching the TaylorMade SuperQuad TP driver. I have bought/tried several TM products and I have yet to be disappointed. I actually prefer several of the TM putters over the, in my humble opinion, overpriced Scotty Cameron ones. I don`t want to debate over this, I find the Cameron putters to be good, but for me not as good. However, now I want to get the SuperQuad. I already have the SasQuatch squared from Nike, and it is okay. I can drive it straight, but I really have to gamble if I want to go longer than 260 meters. Last evening I drove 280 meters, dead straight, and it was really great. But it is risky, and I`d rather go 260 9/10 times, than 280 meters 2/10 times. However, I recently came over some new weights for the driver I want. They are claiming to add 20-40 yards on the drive. I have to admit it sounds tempting, but at the same time I have to wonder. So, the link to the weights are here . So, what do you think? Have anyone tested this? The seller on ebay have yet to receive negative or neutral feedback, but still, I am not sure whether the people who`ve given feedback have tested the weights, and whether or not they are good golfers. So, The Sand Trap, I ask you to give me your humble opinion of these weights. Any thoughts, questions or comments will be appreciated. Sincerely yours, Erlend
  14. Thanks for the reply, still hoping for more suggestions though. I`ve only played with a 5 wood once, I did it while borrowing a Callaway set from a friend of mine. We were playing the same set, and I actually drove the 5 wood longer than he could manage to hit the driver. He was clearly embarrassed. Still, who doesn`t love distance. I have already considered buying both a 3 wood and a 5 wood. But I think I will take the plunge and only buy one of them. Unsure what, though. I have a very poor Olyo 3 wood. I used to hit it off the tee before I got a driver. Now I never hit it anymore, as I don`t like the looks, feel or touch of it. To put it simple, I have no confidence with it, even from the tee. Ja, det var gøy. Tror ikke det er så mange av oss her akkurat. Hvor i landet er du lokalisert da?
  15. Hi, I am considering buying myself a FW wood. This year, I`ve started driving 240-250 meters when I get the correct hit. I average on about 220-230 meters. The average is of my assumption, as I have never really checked it, and I haven`t played enough rounds to really estimate an average. But the last two rounds (only played 3 this year due to finals at school, and I am starting to play a lot more nowadays), I played against people with a handicap from 6 to 17, and I actually had the longest drive on all the holes where we used the driver. So, on one of the par 5s, I drove approx 250 meters. Next up I used a 7 wood, and the ball stopped 20 meters from the hole. I don`t think I am able to hit the green with a 7 wood from that distance. So now I am considering buying either a 3 wood or a 5 wood. But I need some advice. How do you hit a 3 wood off the deck? Should I rather go for a 5 wood? Thank you all for any help, Erlend
