  1. on the other hand, would adding weight to a normal swing weight add distance?
  2. I had my clubs shortened 1.5" from the butt end, and they feel a lot lighter to swing. I also had them bent upright 2 degrees (not sure if that's the right combination of adjustments, shortened and upright)... but anyway I was wondering if I would technically lose any distance by shortening them and not fixing the swingweight to where it was before. The clubs I hit consistently now that I make better contact are... PW = 125yd 9 iron = 140 yd 8 iron = 155 yd these are all with 3/4 swings because I haven't been able to control a full swing yet.
  3. my friend has been hitting the ground on most of his drives, and the ball is either getting sliced to the right or pushed straight to the right I know it could be caused by a number of things, but what would be the most common thing? we are playing in a scramble tomorrow and I don't want to be the only one in the fairway
  4. it just seems my ball flight is straigter with the baseball grip that's why I like it so much. I seem to get a lot more distance with it too. Yesterday I hit a drive on the green which the card said was 285yds. I've gotten close before but this is the first time it actually got on the green (rolled on). And all my drives weren't getting the hook ball flight they usally do. Maybe because I installed oversize grips??
  5. just wondering what the most popular grip on tour is... I've tried all 3 and like the baseball grip the best... does anyone on tour use it?
  6. Has anyone had any performance issues washing their balls with bleach water? I have a bucket full of balls that I've used that I want to bring back to life by soaking them in bleach water for a few hours.
  7. maybe sanding it down like you would a motorcycle frame and getting it powder coated
  8. I would use invisible balls. They can't say my ball DIDN'T go in the hole.
  9. I don't think there is a certain reason, every course seems to make their own rules.
  10. I was wondering why he chose a 7 wood then a 4 hybrid that are about the same loft?
  11. I would love this kind of fitting myself! where exactly would I go? I assume Golfsmith is not an option like this, but I may be mistaken.
  12. At first I thought something was wrong with my swing, but then a friend mentioned I could be losing distance because it's cold. The past few times, I've been going when it's about 45* outside. My approach shots are coming up short. Usually from 160 I'm hitting a 7, but I've had to hit 6 and sometimes 5 to get it on or near the green. I'm really getting frustrated thinking it's my swing. Could I be losing 10 to 20 yard because it's 45 degrees (F) outside?
  13. I think the field is going to be very competitive, therefore the scores will be really low. I'm going with 17 under for the score and Jim Furyk as the winner.
  14. there's a guy around here that sells balls he finds for 20cents a piece. i've picked up all kinds of balls from him from top flite to titleist to callaway to taylormade. it's the first time i ever played a penta and i really liked it a lot, it felt really great. my girlfriend bought me a dozen nxt tour for christmas and a dozen for valentines day, and i am about out, and was thinking about trying out the z-star everyone on here is talking about. i like the srixon balls i find, usually play with them a few holes until i lose 'em in the woods or water.
  15. that's weird. how could one register a club with no serial number right? maybe the receipt has the serial number on it.
  16. My favorite is going to the driving range with a score card from the other courses, and playing 18 holes from the tee. For instance, if Hole #1 is a 435yd Par 4, I'll hit my driver 260yds, then try to hit my 7-iron straight 165yds. Or if the course starts off with a dogleg left, I'll try to shape my driver with a draw 270yds and pick the club for my next shot that will get me on the green. On the Par 5 holes, I don't try to get on in 2, that way I can use my wedges during this drill. This drill lets me use a bucket of 100 balls more productively, so I don't feel like I'm just hitting balls.
  17. don't mind a fade, but I like a straight ball that goes where you aim it.
  18. I would LOVE to work at a course or club resort. I have a Bachelor's in Business Admin, and I'm currently doing sales. I was thinking about moving to Orlando, trying to get in at one of the Disney golf courses, or at Reunion Resort where Annika's school is. I just don't think I have a chance without any prior experience at a golf course. I can always start at the bottom and work up :)
  19. :I remember one round where I was playing by myself and I was stuck behind a foursome, I purposely spent my "waiting time" looking for lost balls, and by the time the round was over, I couldn't fit any more in the front pouch of my bag!!! Luckily there was nobody playing behind me. This was a fairly nice course, and the balls I found ranged from Top Flite to ProV1. I play one specific ball too, but it's nice to have a bag-load of shag balls to mess with or give away. I like ProV1x, NXT and DT Carry, so I kept those :)
  20. The guy at the golf shop showed me a rangefinder I've never seen before, a Laser Link. This was the newest model, the Red Hot. It looked pretty weird, kinda like a State Highway Patrol's handheld laser. But when he showed me how to use it, I was impressed with the consistency of readings and how easy it seemed to acquire those readings. The price is just as high as the Bushnell Pinseeker 1600, which I've already been looking at. Does anyone have experience using the Laser Link device? If it's easier to use and better accuracy than the Bushnell, I might get it instead.
  21. From what I understand, the best 5 scores of your last 20 rounds would establish your handicap. Do you HAVE to use your last 20 rounds? What if I want to play a practice rounds? Do I have to count the score for those rounds towards my handicap?
  22. I think walking shows true potential for becoming a better golfer (stamina, mental focus, etc.), especially if your goal is to play professionally. It would be nice to always have a caddy so you don't have to carry your bag, but a push cart is a close second. I would see a person's handicap improving by walking courses you've never played. But for courses you're already familiar with, walking or riding shouldn't make a difference. As far as giving strokes to you for walking, I think that would be unfair because it's not like you don't have an option to ride also.
  23. WOW! that's some damn good golf! So theoretically, an average Pro could murder my home course. I'd love to see that!
