The original poster is planning to head to South Carolina, not France. Therefore, I'm not sure how this applies to the original poster's question of which course to play at Kiawah.

We were there a couple of years ago after they had punched the greens at the Ocean Course. Questioned whether it was worth paying $300+ to play on it punched. Did it anyway. Glad I did (even though it is extremely difficult) and would do it again if I went back.

Go to and finish college. The likelihood you're going to turn that $400k into $5mm playing golf is very small. The likelihood you're going to turn that $400k into $0 and then trying to figure out what to do is very high. Find a school you like and take lessons while you're there the first year. Try out for the college golf team your 2nd year. If you make the team, then maybe you've got a shot. If not, at least you're part of the way through school and closer to obtaining a degree that you can use to build off of the remainder of the $400k. Good luck.

I would say that most more respectable clubs require that your shirt be tucked in. It's about being respectful of the game and those around you.

Doubled 17 to shoot 80 (the caddie told me to make sure not to leave it short - but I did). Missed a 15 footer for birdie on 18 to get it back in the 70's. I was sick.

I'm in the low single digits and replaced my 2 iron with a hybrid early last year and my 3 iron in mid summer. I have always loved my long irons and have hit them well (had a 1 iron in the bag for many years). There are many comments here about the satisfaction of a well struck 2 or 3 iron and I couldn't agree more. However, the key question I asked myself was, "Self, out of ten 2 or 3 iron shots, how many do you hit well (and in the trajectory, direction and distance you want) in comparison with ten 2 or 3 hybrid shots?". For me (and many other lower handicap players with whom I play), the answer is probably 6 to 7 times out of ten with the iron and 9 to 10 times out of 10 with the hybrid. For me, that correlates to 1 to 3 saved strokes per round. I would suggest that higher handicap players will save many more strokes than that.

On a ProVix, three dots around the number on both sides... top left, top right and bottom. Then extend the A.I.M. line on the side of the ball to assist in lining up putts.

35 and have been playing off and on since I was a kid. Pretty steadily "on" during the past 12 years (which is apparently about as long as some of those on this forum have been around).

Shot 75 in about 2.5 hours in a threesome tonight. Gotta love fast play... keeps you loose and from thinking too much. 31 putts, 8 fairways and 10 greens... an average night.

I used to carry 4 (48, 51, 56, 60). But replaced the 51 with a 2i hybrid. Now carrying 3 (48 R7TP, 54 Vokey Spin Milled, 58 Vokey Spin Milled). Low bounce on the wedges so I can open them up if I need more loft. I've also replaced a 48 degree "set" wedge with a new 48 wedge. However, I only did it because I had worn the grooves out on the "set" wedge.
