  1. If you play the ball on your left heel, you will hit the ball on an upswing (yes hit the ball on the upswing). As far as aiming goes...I aim for the ball; perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. Good question though!
  2. Shake hands with your target. A good drill is to do half swings. bring the club back until it is parallel with the ground and stop. Then follow through with your downswing from there stopping when your club is pointing at your target. Hard to put into words, especially since I'm in the last 20 minutes of my midnight shift.
  3. I'm a big fan of Nike golf balls to begin with. I'm bored with all the prov1 hype all the time. I will try them next week. Cool thread!
  4. Those are impressive numbers! Shafts are often underrated IMO. With your level of skill, you have a lot to gain with an upgraded shaft. In addition, sometimes stock factory shafts are wrong. It may say stiff, but may not be accurate. Also, it may not be spined (where the seam of the shaft is aligned properly), or have the correct flex point, weight, or even length! A lot goes into custom club shaft fitting. With that being said, the price of the shaft doesn't always reflect the quality. Some shafts are upwards of $300.00. The key word is custom. What will work for you may not work for me. I'm anxious to see what numbers you get if you reshaft it!
  5. I can see it both ways; I see no real advantage of it (maybe because I couldn't drop it in a 3 foot wide hole with one). I think it is an innovative option for golfers that want to try something different. Certainly the technicalities could be up for debate, but to each his own! It could be a slippery slope; what is next?
  6. If you can hit them and like them then go for it! Some people like to look down and see a butter knife, and others like to see a big mac at the end of the shaft. I use a bladed 1 iron...does it have a purpose?...nope! But it's a lot of fun! And I enjoy the reactions I get from people when they see it.

Yea Matt, Cannot stand people who tell me how to play or give me help with my swing. I'm no pro, but I'm also not a beginner and yet they still find ways to give me advice. I just want to play in peace!
  8. I don't have pics, but I use it. Basically, if you are looking down at your left hand on the grip, rotate it to the right, so you can see more of the back of your left hand.
  9. I'm 24 and drive 280; I use a Titleist 975 JVS with a steel shaft. I like the old school stuff...it is fun! When I was 16, I was in the junior long drive competitions and hit 300 usually (with a different driver of course). I hit 330 once with elevation and wind helping! Too bad the other 16 and 17 year olds were a lot better than I was. They looked like football players. Sometimes I pull out the old PT from Titleist...solid 240 every time haha, but again, it's fun that way!
  10. 1) Try to get back to scratch, which is a lot of work since my swing is a mess right now. 2) Find a golf hat that I like.
  11. Tough it out a few more rounds, and see if anything changes. The swing weight changed only slightly with your new grips. Let us know how you fare!
  12. Well that's no fun. At least if I drink early in the round, I know I will slowly get better. Just kidding. I am astonished at the amount of empty beer cans I find in the trash at every hole. Peanut butter, fruit, and even a bagel is healthy energy for my round.
