  1. Which muscles are the best to work out specifically for the golf swing? Ive heard lats, hip flexors, glutes, and hamstrings.
  2. how is your handicap 10 with 68% GIR over 50% and 280 into fairways and only 29 putts per round? you must have one or 2 blow up holes per round. if so, you could get rid of those and youd be shooting in the mid to low single digit handicaps.
  3. haha well i can say that dont know all that much about changing golf equipment, i got these irons about 3 months ago and they were the new set i had ever gotten besides the old, used clubs i started out with. as far as the shafts go the project x are the ones that i was going to get, i hear alot of people here talking about how good they are. i got my x forged irons off the internet and they had true temper gold s300 steel shafts.
  4. i only make quick fixes if i need them, otherwise ill just work with whatever i have that day.
  5. I have Callaway X Forged steel shafted irons, and was wondering if getting them reshafted with a different steel shaft would hurt their performance. I thought I heard somewhere that after you reshaft a club it doesn't do as well as before.
  6. I think clubhead speed is important. Not as important as being able to consistently hit the ball accurately, but the thing about using the 3:1 ratio is that it helps your consistency and accuracy as well. When your using the same tempo everytime your chances of repeating your shots is alot better, and when that tempo has the right timing and speed your accuracy and distance will improve as a result. You dont have to hit it far to score well but its alot easier to score well if you can hit short irons and wedges into greens instead of long irons.
  7. I heard them saying on the golf channel that even with tour cards you need sponsers exemptions to get in tournaments, so I was just wondering if getting your tour card from q-school, nationwide, top 125 on money list got you into all the non limited field/major tournaments.
  8. Just wondering what the differences were and also what other type of drivers do these sort of hit like?
  9. try to grip the club more in your fingers and not so much in the palms.
  10. i think i was getting my lower body too involved. i worked on it today and was alot better than it has been lately. still hit a few fat every now and then but it was only 2-3/10 instead of 7-8/10.
  11. Recently I've started hitting the ball fat a good bit. I've always done it on the rare occasion but now its starting to be a consistent problem on almost every shot. Even my 3 woods off the deck and tee are taking divots and causing me to get way under the ball. Though I'm not hitting it really fat (only losing around 5-15 yrds with my irons) and its a managable problem on the course, its very annoying. A lot of times when I don't hit it fat I'll get jerky on the move down and either pull it or hit it then too, which is something I never did until recently. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems similar to this and/or know of any good drills or tips to fix it. I tried the line drill and putting the clubhead cover behind the ball during the swing (casting is whats causing the fat shots, I'm almost positive) but neither worked for me.
  12. id say work on distance control and short game (chipping, putting, sand play) so that you can get approach shots close enough to the hole for birdie chances and get up and down if you do miss a green. those 2 things are the things that seperate the + handicap golfers from scratch and low digit handicappers in my opinion. thats what ive been working on for the summer and it helped me alot. i started the summer at around 14 handicap and right now im between 3 and 4 but i also practiced alot everyday.
  13. i actually did think about the g10 but i never hear much about it, and most people talk more about the rapture. as far as the loft and shaft in my 2 drivers the loft was the same and it was also the same flex stock shaft. i have heard that the burner shaft was "whippy" and although ive never noticed it that could be it.
  14. yea i have a burner and its not that bad but i was really wondering how the other drivers compared and what other people would choose. i hit the a 907(not sure if its the d1 or 2), Sumo, Burner, Superquad, Insight 5000, ft-i/5, and one of the Cobra drivers but when i hit them i only hit 2 or 3 balls with each one. the ping rapture is the one that really interested in. ive heard alot of good things about it but ive never seen one to demo. the main thing that i would look for in the driver is really distance. i can hit it well and i used to hit around 280-300 but after switching to the burner its gone down about 20 yrds. (used to have an r7 but it had a reg. flex shaft so i had to get a new one. those distances are comparing a stiff flex r7 i borrowed until i got the burner)
  15. either 907 i suppose. i dont really know the difference between the 2.
  16. the pro that gave me lessons always taught me that the left arm rotated for the release and the right was rolled because of the left. he could, of course, had been wrong or i miss interpreted it.
  17. use your left arm to release the club and as far as lag does im not positive which is more responsible but i think its mutual between the hands.
  18. Does hitting a drive into a fairway bunker, then getting a par on the hole count as a sand save or is it just getting it up and down from a greenside bunker?
  19. i would say (and it may or may not be right since i havent seen it) that you have a pretty good grip and i wouldnt change it unless you feel uncomfortable with it.
  20. id just be sure to not neglect your long game while practicing your short game so much. as far as grip goes, if you have a 10 finger grip its not that bad and you can still get pretty good with it. still an overlapping or interlocking grip gets the hands working together while the 10 finger grip can sometimes have them against each other which can create inconsistency. it takes awhile to fully get used to the change (took me about 300-400 shots on the range) but once you do itll feel as good as your current grip. though it doesnt sound like long game is your problem it still could be a good thing to look into.
  21. try putting with one foot back (take your normal stance and move your right foot back a little). it should help you keep your head still during the putt and make your putts more consistent. i use it alot and it helps me keep my putts on line more often. also what months golf digest is that handicap challenge in? i remember seeing it but i cant remember in which issue.
  22. I have a taylormade burner driver that i got cut down a about 2 inches because im only 5' 9. however, i was wonder what was the longest hitting driver you could buy. exclude forgivenesss, all that im wondering about is distance as of right now.
  23. A 3 hybrid (Nickent 4dx, Bobby Jones, or Callaway FT), Callaway X 5 wood, and maybe a Ping Rapture Driver
  24. i just finished getting a club fitting and they did the lie board and everything, but they didnt actually change anything about the clubs. all they said was that the lies of the 5-pw were half a degree off (over what it should be) and to bring them in in a few months for maintence (reseting the lie/loft). it was a good experience even though nothing really happened. i think your supposed to be a certain handicap before you get club fitted so that your swing is fairly repeatable.
