  1. ive never heard of golf shoes ruining someones game before, i play the same whether i were spike shoes or not. it was probably a mental thing. i know it sounds pretty crazy but for a while i always played golf without a hat and when i started wearing one i played bad (probably just hit a slump) and from then on everytime i wore a hat i did bad because for some reason i thought i played worse in a hat. finally i just had to tell myself it was ridiculous to think that and it stopped. i guess the moral of the story is not to dwell on any negative thoughts because even if they arent swing related they can still hurt your game.
  2. yea i always considered a punch shot to be a low shot thats used to get under/through trees, etc. id probably consider a really high shot with alot of spin from 130 in to be more of a pitch or flop shot. just my thoughts though. as far as divots go i personally never take one. not for any shot but ive never had a big problem with GIR and if im not really having a problem i dont see any reason to change to divots.
  3. if your having timing problems between your upper body and lower body then try hitting shots with your feet together. if your out of time or over swinging youll fall over. try hitting a good bit of balls like this and slowly spread out your feet to the regular width. see if that works for you.
  4. i started to think about golf alot and started reading all sorts of articles and things to help whatever was hurting me at the time and if i had a problem i would try hard to fix it for myself. after doing this i started to understand my own swing a great deal more and found it easier to correct problems if they came up. between a better swing understanding and just hitting tons of range balls everyday to try and pound the swing i wanted into memory so that i could do it consistently i started to slowly but surely see results and scores being lower.
  5. ill give it a try at the driving range tommorw. i appreaciate the input.
  6. If you're pushing, you are probably under the plane, which makes you swing inside out. A few questions to be sure: What are your divots like: deep, shallow, often no divot (choose one) \ I personally dont take divots too often. I sweep the ball but if i do decide to take one or hit it fat, they're usually straight where I think I'm aimed. Are you stronger with the longer clubs, especially the driver? Driver and 3 wood are my second strongest clubs next to my wedges but irons are the worst the longer they get though they aren't really that bad. Are your misses either hooks or pushes? Mostly pushes as of right now but I have been know to hook shots from time to time. How well do you play 150 yard fairway bunker shots? Considering the main course I play at has only 4 bunkers (all greenside) I don't play too many of them, but when I do I never seem to have too big a problem with them. Not much different than playing off pine straw in my opinion. (which is one thing my main course actually does have a lot of)
  7. Anyone ever push there irons out to the right alot? i just recently started doing it about a day ago and it really kills your GIR. What kind of fixes do you guys use for pushes?
  8. it really helps keep from thin shots which i struggle with from time to time.
  9. i agree about the half swing and feet together drill, both of those work really well. another one i like to do on the range is the pump drill where you take your full swing and stop halfway down, go back up stop halfway, go back up and go all the way through. this helps me with my wrist cock retention when i start hitting the ball a little fat.
  10. I hit all these at the demo day recently and I was wondering how everyone else felt about them? I thought the x forged irons hit the best. Though the fusion had the best distance for me I liked the lower trajectory and thin topline/muscle back of the x forged irons, plus i could hit more shaped iron shots with them. I didn't like the x-20 tours that much. They weren't that bad but of the 3 they were my least favorite. They were similar to the x forged but if you were thinking about them I would just go straight for the x forged.
  11. i dont really have the problem with my shots going every which way, usually theyre straight about 75% of the time or left when i get a little quick. i like the r7 alot and can hit it pretty well im just not a big fan of the MWT since i dont need the shot shaping. thats why i was thinking burner over the superquad. ill probably end up with the burner just because i really like taylor made drivers. ive used them for a long time and theyve always served me well.
  12. i have r7 driver but ive had it for awhile now im going to try and get a new one soon. i was originally thinking about the ft-5 but i hit it and didnt really like it that much. right now im debating between the taylor made burner and one of the cobra speed drivers but i dont live close to a big golf retailer or a demo day so i cant try one of them out. which do you think would be better for distance and accuracy?
  13. i know what you mean, i love it when i get to play with people, especially the ones who are bad putters, and say that if they would only by a better putter like an odyssey marxman or something that theyd probably be down to under 30 putts per round. the best part is when they actually buy it and still putt the same.
  14. you have to be careful when you try to speed up your downswing too much if you over swing it youll start pulling it directly left maybe even with the duck hook spin which will pretty much cause blow up holes. if you speed up your down swing be sure to have an equal speed back swing and good rhythm. i found rhythm and tempo to be the key to hitting my driver straight and far. but the spine angle and address is important also.
  15. i dont find that i have too big a problem hitting greens (usually about 9-12 per round) and when i do hit the green i rarely ever 3 putt. the reason i usually miss the green is because i miss the fairway and have to spend strokes punching it out of the trees or something. my game lives and dies by the driver if its cold ill probably be off on my entire tee to green game.
