  1. Depending on the lie and pin position, I most often will chunk a lob wedge or thin a 9 iron :)
  2. I have played The White Witch and had dinner there. Absolutely beautiful views from the top of the mountain in which the course is built. Named 'White Witch' after a supposed witch who lived on the property in the 1700s. Johnny Cash has a house on the course.
  3. I appreciate the response. I will drop you a note.
  4. I signed up for boxgroove. Could not be more disappointed. Blatant mins advertising, IMO. I belong to a private club. My pro has 100x more options for me to play other private clubs than boxgroove. The site lists tons of clubs, but only a very few are actually 'in network'.
  5. Does anyone know of a course that still requires pants? I have never played one that didn't allow shorts.

    Pre- Round Warm Up

My normal allotted time prior to a round is 40 minutes. This gives me time to check in, change shoes/ clothes in locker room, then warm up. I usually putt for about 5 minutes, then stretch and hit 8-12 balls with my 9 iron focusing only on swing plane and loosening up. I then hit 6 or so balls with 9 iron, 5 iron, SW, 3 hybrid or 4 wood. Finally a few drivers and chip for a few minutes.

    Carts or Legs?

I always ride. I only walked 2 rounds in my life and both times were with a caddy.
  8. I am glad the guy is ok. He should not have left the tee box until all in the group had hit.
  9. I think you are playing from the wrong tees...
  10. I am amazed at how many said no and the instances of ducking out to avoid it. A hole in one is a very rare thing. The buying drinks for the clubhouse is part of the tradition and a means of celebration. I've never had one, but if I ever do, I will be happily buying a round for the 19th hole. I have on several occaisions, been notified that by the bartender that 'Mr X' made a hole in one and is buying a round. I gladly accepted and sought out the player and offered my congratulations. It is an honored and respected tradition at my club. We also have insurance available.
  11. I never ask or expect guests to pay when I invite them to play with me at my club. More times than not, they will either insist on slipping me some cash or do something like buy me dinner and/or cocktails at a later date.
  12. Thanks for the clarification.
  13. The OP is wrong in stating that he has a right to play as a single. A single has no rights IMO, and the course should manage the pairing of players. I didn't read the entire post, but why did the OP not want to be paired? Also, is it permissible to post scores when playing by yourself? I think not, as I thought all rounds had to be 'attested'.
  14. For me, the driver is needed when I can't reach the 150 yd marker with anything else. My chances of hitting the green are significantly better from 160 in. If I can get to that point off the tee with less club, then I don't hit driver; however, my driver off the tee is more accurate than my 6 iron from the fairway. So, I try to hit whatever club will get me into at least 7 iron range (~160 yds).
