  1. Yea I know I felt really dumb too. Honestly it could be made really easily in the backyard, but if you dont mind paying the $125 I believe it helped me find the plane I was looking for with my driver. For that day anyway!
  2. Another adjustment I made with my swing was making a more flat-planed (?) swing. I realized I was swinging way to steep with my driver, when I flatenned out my back swing a good bit and it dramatically lowered my flight path, straighter ball, and possibly a bit longer. FWIW, I found my back swing issue by trying out my co-workers Hank Haney swingfiner tool. It's a pretty cheap device that could be easily homemade, but it made me realize I was breaking my wrists too soon and making a very steep back swing.
  3. I think I was hitting greens well today which enabled me to snag that elusive 89!
  4. I have to be there to co-sign the card, and vice-versa. Pressure is on today in the heat wave.
  5. I would say definitely go get 'em on eBay if they are well priced. But I do believe you can hit newer clubs, have you thought about a lesson or video analysis of your swing with the 3/5 wood?
  6. Pretty much every time, it makes it a bit more fun. Then I go back and play with a co-worker and he is 10-15 strokes behind me, not as fun because I like the competition!
  7. I have the Phil Mickelson DVD will watch soon.
  8. 117 holes of golf played in 4 days, pretty decent amount of play lol
  9. It makes everything harder, I've never seen a golfer sway his hips and consistently make good shots. It screws your timing up
  10. As a 26 year old I can really relate to this, holy sh*t i feel bad for you in this situation. Not really sure what I would've done but it sounds awful. Luckily thought my dad and I move on the golf course and do not hold anyone up. I've played with other older guys from work and I just tell them I refuse to play with them if they're going to act like that. Especially if they want to play where I am a member.
  11. Are you trying aggressively to make the putts, or is your goal more/less to 2-putt every green? I am asking because if as you say the greens are inconsistent once you find your speed you should be able to AIM for a 3-4 ft circle around the hole to be in position for a 2-putt. I do this if my putting is way off or I am unfamiliar with the green.
  12. I did not think of this, but i think uttexas probably found the problem .
  13. Your chipping will never be precise playing with dirt balls and dirt sand wedge, lol
  14. Paul thanks alot sounds like solid advice and all of those things are being worked on
  15. judging from the first video, it looks to me like the club comes over top/across the ball creating the spin for a slice. Looks like the club needs to take more of an outside to in path.
  16. I highly doubt there is a great answer to this question, because if there was we would probably all be doing it and preaching it. I think so many of us are all over the place with the ways we practice and get better and what works for one does not work for the other. If there is a "best way" I'd love to hear it though!
  17. My thoughts are definitely to have my weight forward through the swing, a tendency I am trying to get rid of is having my weight on my back foot.
  18. I guess it could go either way, if that is the case than I support the others that say hit down on the ball!
  19. If you have the money for a hybrid club I would say definitely buy that, it's going to be much easier to hit and you will more than likely get much more distance out of it. that being said, you can still hit a 4 iron, I would say step back from the ball like half an inch further than with the 5.
  20. Miry Run has the same owner/operator as Springfield and I completely agree you should play that course as a beginner. It's a short course but you're still working all aspects of the game. Willow Brook and Rancoacas are some courses you should try around the area as well.
  21. Learn to chip and putt 150 and in. So many strokes are lost in the beginning by going back and forth over greens. If a newcomer can play around the greens, it will shave a lot of strokes. Basics of the swing are important, opening and closing of the face, not coming across over top the ball, etc.
  22. Range afterwards has been making a difference about 30-40 balls
  23. Makes total sense eventually I will take away the step. BUT if you weight shift is forward that means your first step while watching the ball would be forward. I can't even think of the number of times Im walking backwards and praying I stay in bounds. It just over emphasizes the point.
