  1. good thread. I was wondering something similar to this myself. I weight 170ish and my driver average lately seems to be about 280. That would put me at 1.65. Fun thread!
  2. sweet sweet car. Did I mention sweet? Very stealth. Looks like a sporty sedan, but has the ability to entertain and blow you away!
  3. hahahaha don't know what this is but its pretty hilarious
  4. Didn't they give one of those out on the Big Break VI? Looked pretty niiice.
  5. I vote "pretty." Most of the older guys I see with "ugly functional" swings have worked really hard to make their swings work for them. I would rather start with good foundation - a prettier swing will be more versatile and workable. I am also guessing a pretty swing won't be that hard to make functional (assuming pretty is loosely equivalent to ideal.)
  6. Welcome, sounds like you got a good head start and better foundation than most beginners. Keep up the good work, golf is, in my opinion, overall the best sport.
  7. Dayum, K.J is on fire this weekend. Although I am pretty sure he won't need to donate US$10 million anytime soon, but I do want to see him win as many out of the 4 FED EX tournies as possible. First round his putting was ridiculously laser-like, didn't get to see the 2nd round - will try to catch a re-run of that. Go K.J!!!!
  8. Thanks for your input. I will ask my teaching pro, although he will probably scoff at the question, like he does for most that I ask. Man, I need to find a better mentor.
  9. Does anyone else change their grip as they move towards long irons? I notice I feel more comfortable and hit the ball better when I use a stronger left hand grip as I move towards a longer iron. I don't know if this has to do with offset (my clubs do have some) but the backswing feels more natural as well as impact.

    Squash

I'm not sure what you mean by DIG, but yeah squash is pretty amazing to watch. It can be real quick, slowish, slam rails and nicks, but then all of a sudden switch tempo to very soft touch drop shots. Amazingly precise yet sloppy at the same time. No matter how sloppy a pro plays he will still hand you your head at the end of the match (which will definately end up 9-0, 9-0, 9-0) Squash requires a mix of many fundamentals: endurance, precision, reflexes and creativity. here is a youtube clip of one of the crazier players to watch, Jonathan Power. http://youtube.com/watch?v=gfqRkNYqqjI
  11. agreed, enough is enough. The media has fluffed her up enough time and time again - it is now time for her to really prove herself on the LPGA tour. Just because she has a great swing and can drive the ball well... she really needs to work on her mental game.
  12. I am not a fan of NASCAR either. However, I must disagree with you when you say driving is not an althetic move. It requires very acute reflexes and split second decision making/calculating and translate that into dialed in adjustments of throttle, steering, clutch(for manual), braking etc. Great driving cannot be done by just anyone and requires good instincts as well. I believe that great natural aestheticism comes from finely honed primitive instincts. Also make note of how in shape F1 drivers must be. To control a Renault, Ferrari or Toyota at speeds in excess of 300kph around Albert Park, a driver needs four physical attributes. The first is an aerobic capacity that enables him to perform for one hour and 40 minutes while his heart is pounding at about 180 beats per minute. David Coulthard, the oldest man on the Albert Park grid, has a resting rate of about 40 beats per minute, a figure normally associated with endurance cyclists and runners. The second is neck strength, to withstand up to 25kg of sideways force, on every corner, through a 58-lap race. The third is sufficient strength through the arms and chest to control the wheel. The fourth is the leg power to provide 80kg downward pressure each time you brake. Beyond this, however, a driver needs something else. "It is not only the physical stress but the brain stress," Ceccarelli explained. "A driver's brain has to run faster than his car, which is more than 300kmh, with no rest. That makes this sport very difficult." (taken from http://sportsci.blogspot.com/2007/06...1-drivers.html ) I would have to say that racing is a dialed down 2 dimensional version of flying a jet fighter, which I must says takes great altheticism.
  13. By fashion in this sense, I meant keeping both their hands the same tone of pale. I haven't encountered many Korean people on U.S soil courses, but here golf is a total snob fest. Kinda takes a little bit of getting used to...
  14. I am a righty and I wear only the left side. I usually end up having to use a bandage on my right thumb once in a while... Like right now.
  15. I was just making an analogy that the DWS is more forgiving.
  16. I am pretty sure the DWS doesn't have a closed face. I have heard good things about it. I am also looking for a swing weight of D3 - the DWS is D2. I may end up trying it out though. The DWS is more forgiving - think DWS is 460cc and the Pro is smaller sized I am looking for something that will work best in bad lies. Will the TM Dual TP fulfill this role? Would you say the Adams is a good club to use from trouble lies? Thank you all for your help!
  17. Thanks for the reply - will try to test it out if I can find a place nearby me that allows this. Can any one compare the 585, TM Dual and the Baffler Pro?
  18. So Michelle hits any decent shot. As she walks to her next shot: [amble amble] 'wave to fans who appreciate my greatness' [amble amble] 'wave to fans who appreciate my greatness' [amble amble] 'wave to fans who appreciate my greatness' ..... ..... ..... ..... seriously she can seem like a windup toy. While many other players may acknowledge the crowds' appreciation once or twice, she is at it every two or three steps. No wonder she falls apart - her arms must be tired by the end of 2 holes...
  19. Welcome Heat. There is plenty of info on this board to help you get where you want. I know of two other Waterloos - one in upstate NY and the is a club in the Bahamas called the Waterloo~
  20. hehe, what korean and other women will do in the name of fashion. Here in Korea they wear a visor and then drape their heads in towels to block out any peripheral sunrays that may come crawling under their visors. Not to mention that their visors are the huge extended ones... And on top of that you may see them using parasols...
  21. I like my 585.H. But mine (with NV 85 shaft) has much too boring and low of a trajectory. I would like to find a hybrid with the best balance of rescue capabilities (for that is what I will be using the hybrid for.) I guess I should also try a different shaft in the 585. What hybrid has no offset and a square face while offering more rescue capabilities (easy hits from iffy lies, high trajectory) than the 585? I am thinking about TM dual, but I don't like the closed face. Also considering the Cobra Baffler Pro/DWS. Besides the offset and the dual weight system can anyone comment on the differences between the PRO and the DWS? Thanks for your help!
  22. That is awesome! I am more actively recruiting my significant other to come and play golf with me. She is still in the beginner stage so gets frustrated on the range, but she is one of those gifted few that plays much better on the field than in the range. I know some guys may think golf is one of the last remaining safe havens from the wife, but I think it will also be an important relationship "bonder" in the years to come. signed, non-chauvinistic board member
  23. I would say 15%. (pretty much arbitrarily chosen number - not )% and not a high % either). I know several people who have gone down to a a single digit handicap in 1 year. I'm sure with exceptional athleticism and dedication you can do it!
  24. in no specific order TIGER WOODS : hes got all aspects of the game, mentally and physically. very charismatic competitor KJ CHOI : my bias runs very deep here. I like his humble and hardworking style. ANNIKKA SORENSTAM : similar to Tiger Woods. Would love to see her break some more LPGA records. ADAM SCOTT : wish he would win more often, but he does score high often. also GO TITLEIST!
  25. lovely 944. Gotta love any classic sports car with pop-up headlights.
